Varsity Basketball Team Gets New Coach KNEELING: Marvin Pflaumer, Bill Russell, Virgil Studebaker, Reiny Schiller, John Reynolds. The success of Tecumseh's 1960-61 basketball squad will be measured by the extent to which squad members carry forward the principles of good sportsmanship, co- operation and discipline that they learned as teammates coached by Tom Martin, former assistant basketball coach at Xenia Central. Despite the team's efforts, they were edged out many times by a few points and finished the season with a 7-11 record. Special awards given at the annual football banquet went to Dale Still, Most Im- proved Player; Lee Weidner, Honorary Captain; and Denny Helmer, Most Valuable Player. Football means special awards, special events, as well as action. During Tecumseh's win over Graham, a Tecumseh man brings down a Falcon ball- carrier. A 5-2 league standing earned them a tied second place in the Mad River Valley League. The experience gained while members of the re- serves will prove extremely valuable to many of the team members when they become varsity squad members.
