CREW MEMBERS Lee Weidner and Carolyn Taylor; Hugh Wallace and Dale Garrett. The 1961 Class Presents JANUARY THAW A remodeled New England house, legal fine print, and a suspected scandal were the main ingredients of the plot of the senior class play January Thaw. The matinee for the junior high school on November 17 and the evening performance on November 18 were both well-attended. This comedy-drama portrayed the story of Mr. Herbert Gage, a New York writer, his wife. Marge, and their three daughters, who remodel and move into an old New England house. Later the former owners, Jonathan and Mathilda Rockwood. return. The Gages don't want to move from their new home, but, much to their horri- fied surprise, they find that the fine print in their contract also gives the Rockwoods the right to live in the house. During the long and weary winter Mr. and Mrs. Rockwood and their playboy son, Matt, live in one corner while the Gages occupy the rest of the house. The atmosphere inside is as cool as the temperature outside; however, just as the ground begins to thaw as the spring months approach, the dislike between Herbert Gage and Jonathan Rock- wood melts in a moment of crisis.
