They chose the colors light blue and silver for the candidates and attendants banners. While people were making banners, others were writing stories for the paper and the football program. Next on the agenda was a field trip with the FHA. They left one morning for the Youth Developmental Center at Geneva and the Women’s Reformatory at York. Between the two stops they ate Godfather’s Pizza. In January, a potluck supper was held. Heart Sister Week came upon them the week before Valentine’s Day, in which they played their gags and jokes on their Heart Sister. On Friday they gave each other their gifts and told who their Heart Sister was. As usual, the group packaged candy for the Easter egg hunt for the kids of the community. 27

Spirit of T.H.S. The cheerleaders for the 1980-81 sport season were Kelly Hesman head cheerleader, Teresa Bohling, Renae Koehler, Trish Kremke, and Karen La France. The Junior Varsity were Jill Parrish, head Cheerleader, Jill Hahn, Deb Chritton, and Kim Badertscher. There were no try-outs because not enough girls wanted to be a cheerleader. So the job was given to the girls. They attended a camp at Doane College in Crete July 9-16. They spent the days learning new cheers to use during football and basketball seasons. They also learned routines, jumps, pyramids, and met many friends. They were given each day to practice so they could show the cheerleaders that were in charge of the camp what they had learned in a day. They slowly improved each night. The Junior Varsity were given the chance to compete in the final competition. The Varsity won a trophy for the most improved squad. Throughout the week ribbons were given out for each night’s performance. The J.V.’s brought home 4 ribbons and the Varsity 5 ribbons. There were conflicts among all of them. But things usually turned out okay. They did their best cheerleading without the pep club. GO BIG T” and DEFENSE were among the fan's favorite cheers during basketball districts. Pep rallies and other things were planned by the cheerleaders. Junior Varsity: Top Jill Parrish (head cheerleader), middle Jill Hahn. Kim Badertscher, and Bottom Deb Chritton. Some cheerleaders you are one is wearing a coat and the other is sticking out her tongue. Now shape up or ship out! Varsity: Top Renae Koehler, middle Trish Kremke, Teresa Bohling, Bottom Kelly Hesman (head cheerleader), Karen LaFrance.

The first thing on their minds was to make some money. The girls sold cakes at BB VB games. The traditional parents nite for the VB BB games were held, and flowers were purchased for the mothers. The busy schedule of the girls, stopped a lot of accomplishments, that could have been made, but all seemed to work. To show the spirit in our club, the girls performed a skit before the boys played in regencies. The future plans of the club is to buy new banners for the conference teams that were lost.
