This was Director Donold Reimer's first year as a music instructor at THS. Three concerts were given: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring, and the attendance grew with each one. A new group. Swing Choir, was formed, and it and other small groups performed for various community organizations. The majority of the cast for the all-school musical was from the music department, and they worked long and hard to make the musical the success it was. At District Music Contest which was held at Auburn this year, the Mixed Chorus received a superior rating and Swing Choir, Trio, and Triple Trio received an excellent. In regard to next year Mr. Reimer's said, As regarding next year, I feel that we can only continue to improve. This year the vocal music program showed tremendous progress, but we have really only scratched the surface. With the increase in the size of our department that is expected we can do a finer quality of music than we could even attempt this year. I'm anxiously anticipating a greater program in the future. Mrs. Vandemere and her son had become lost trying to locate a lovely tourist cabin on the map but—they couldn't seem to find it. They stopped into a hillbilly mountain shack to find out where they were at. When their questions were answered they were both leaving. Snoddy told Paw she wanted the dude in the fancy clothes. Get him Paw, don't let him get away. 54 But thar is danger. The Hawkenshaw boys down yonder in the valley don't take none t' strangers. You wouldn't be the first tourists what got stopped on the road at night. Mrs. Hawkenshaw dresses real purty always from sech goings-on. Sometimes I think she puts the boys up to it! Ohhh! Do you think I could?Maw— Paw—may I? Stop! I cain't stand it no more! Snod-dy, I been hankerin' after ya fer years! Only I was always too bashful t' say nothing' an' they thought I was likin' Prissy Lou. Snoddy, ya cain't marry this hyar dude! Ya won't like it none livin' in them big cities. There was a string of murders and Kate was frightened because by coincidence she knew all the girls that had been murdered. They were all killed the same way ... a butcher knife! !! 62 Kate sets the mood for the prologue of the year anniversary of the murder at the old mill. Kate and Lane were unaware of Charlie's presence as he steps out of the chest, stands for a moment with a dull sightless stare, like always. Nan wants to Rock and Roll Doc. This is the scene of an ordinary senior play practice. Promptor Alan Kemer follows the lines in the book as he supervises the cast's actions. Look at the book Alan!! 63 Togetherness starts when, Oh... sorry, Miss. I didn't mean to scare you none. I'm Sam Cordyce, the landlord. I knew I was in love with you the moment I fell into the lake, u I realized it when I hit the water. Dottie, Lorna and Nan along with Dr. Hooker got lost on their way to the Berrydale Asylum. It seems that there is always some third person standing around. We're never alone. You don't know how I've hoped for just a chance like this. Just you and I ... and no other living person to interrupt us. I'm afraid Emmeline's dead. She's been stabbed in the heart. Yeah ... This one really has been stabbed. I'm Mrs. Ranch, Donna Mae's older sister and you all killed her. I have devoted my life to avenging her. You are the last one. Well, well if it isn't Pocahontas. Why don't you build yourself a tepee. Thanks to the remarkable aid and encouragement of a young doctor, Emmeline is positively recovered and going to marry Sky Bentley. I I Don't mind the looks of Charlie's face. It's naturally ugly, but he's added makeup. Sorry if he scares you! ! A few minutes before the opening of the curtain touching up with make-up is needed. COMING TOGETHER IS A BEGINNING KEEPING TOGETHER IS PROGRESS WORKING TOGETHER IS SUCCESS Laurie Pope leads the way. The band set the pace. Dave Peterson gets a handoff in the mile relay. 77 FIRST DISTRICT CHA MPS According to Coach Richard Craig, this season showed much improvements from the previous year. The 4-5 record represented victories over Hamburg, Iowa; Humboldt; Tri County; and an upset win over Nebraska City. Losses were to Southeast Consolidated, Fairbury, Platts-mouth, Falls City, and Auburn. Coach Craig felt very proud of his senior wrestlers who showed much leadership and experience, while the freshman showed a great amount of drive to win. Mr. Craig believes with the amount of talented freshmen who came out, now that they received a year's experience, the 1974-75 team will show even more improvements with the other experienced wrestlers. Don Phillips became the first district champ for Tecumseh which was held at Harvard. Don wrestled at 112 most of the season until he went down for district. At 105 he received his first place and a chance to represent Tecumseh at the state tournament which was held at Lincoln. Also, this year for the first time the THS wrestling team has varsity wrestling cheerleaders. They were Jane Gieser, Ruth PUchalla, Sherea Wolken, Sheri Triplett and alternate Barb Lohmeier. These girls provided great inspiration for the THS wrestling team. Five members of the team recorded winning records- Jim Hunt, 20-5; Gary Lohmeier, 19-10-1; Dave Feurer, 14-8-1; Don Phillips, 16-14; and sophomore, Ed Krontz, 10-8. Regular season varsity starters were Lynn Woltemath, 98; Dan Wolken, 105; Don Phillips, 112; Dan Thompson, 119; Gary Lohmeier, 126; Delton Neeman, 132; Jim Hunt, 138; Steve Lohmeier, 145; Randy Stinson, 155; Jim Bohling, 167; Larry Naber, 185; and Dave Feurer, HWT. Coach Martin had anticipated winning more games during the season but the team did not jell until the last of the season. The Indians posted a three and sixteen record. The varsity also traveled to the Chadron State Invitational Tourney which was held over Christmas vacation. The highlights of the season were wins over Syracuse and Springfield Plattview. The Syracuse game went into overtime and the Springfield Plattview game was won by a Run and gun style of game. Varsity Players are: D. Peterson, A. Pope, B. Woltemath, K. Wattyne, M. Othmer, M. B-TEAM BB The T-Town B-Team Indians ended their 1973-74 basketball season with a 5-9 record. The B-Team experienced times when their play was not up to par, and other times when they played above themselves. The high point of the season was defeating the Tri-County B-Team which, at the time, had a record of 7-0. The Indians experienced some difficulty with lesser teams and at times showed that they could stay with larger class B schools. Two trophies were given out at the end of the season. These were Most Valuable Player and The Best Freethrow Shooting Percentage. Mike Wolken won the Free Throw Shooting trophy, and Paul Zillig received the Most Valuable Player Award. The MVP Award was voted on by both the B-Team players and coaches. Foreign Exchange student Ricardo Rodrigues also played B-team ball. 84 The members of the ”74” Tecumseh Indians golf team were Mick Kunzman, Shane McCoy, Andy Pbpe, and Steve Lohmeier. The Varsity attended many golf meets such as the Tri- County Invitational, the Twin Rivers conference meet and Districts held in Lincoln at Pioneer Golf course. The highlight of the 74” season was the win over Palmyra by a margin of five strokes-the first golf win in six years for THS. Mick Kunzman Shane McCoy Coach Anderson also stated that his best golfer this year was a tie between Mick Kunzman and Shane McCoy. The most improved golfer in 74 was Andy Pope. Competition against tough Class B teams payed off at C-l Districts when Tecumseh qualified their team won two of their four duals and was edged in another. Individually Pat Bray won all four. Practices occurred every weekday of uaually five miles of short distance work instead of the varied long distance running used in years past. These sprints built up endurance much better than any other methods previously used because of the short intervals of rest in between sprints. The meets all featured two and one-half mile courses. The two home meets were held out at Tecumseh's Country Club. Tecumseh's course measured two and one quarter miles and the course record of 12:02 is held by Pat Bray. Scoring at meets is determined by the first four runners from each team. Their places are added together as they finish, and the lowest score wins. Medals were awarded to the top fifteen finishers at the three invitationals along with a first place team and a Runner-Up trophy. The team made a good showing at all the meets and with hard practice and top performances at Districts was planning on taking one of the trophies. Their hopes were dimmed when one of the team's best runners, Jeff Rader, was sidelined with pneumonia. The team then, for the first time this year, had to depend on one of the freshmen to come up on the top twenty along with the rest of the team putting out a super effort. The freshman was Steve Morrissey who placed nineteenth and helped to bring home the Runner-Up trophy. The team was edged by two points to Wahoo-Neumann. Individually, Pat Bray placed second and close behind was Don Phillips who placed third. Both runners received medals for their efforts along with the rest of the top ten. Delton Neeman put out a terrific effort coming up with fifteenth place. Steve Morrissey came up in nineteenth pushed by Mike Fricke who came in twenty-fifth. The top six individuals qualified for the State Meet along with the top three teams. The State Meet proved tougher than the team expected. Warming up was almost impossible with 38 degree temperatures. The team did managed to place 4th. FIRST ROW: J. Steinauer, S. Morrissey, BACK ROW: M. Fricke, J. Rader, D. Neeman, P. Bray, D.
