Alan Pleratt Bob Halverstadt Jan Farley Memories are golden ... Life at Tecumseh High School was not composed only of studies and extracurricular activities; there were certain ingredients which can be defined only by a senior. As we look back, we remember our final year of our high school life-the time and effort spent on learning, the excited buzz of a basketball game, the ’’sneak trip, the time the teacher you couldn't stand wrote excellent across your composition. We were no longer followers, but leaders-the heads of organizations, the stars in sports, the best informed, the most mature, no more the underclassmen-the Seniors. We've come a long way from the first day of kindergarten when we learned to say our names, addresses, and telephone numbers. We have almost completed one cycle of education and life. With this we have learned responsibility and self-dependence. Our lives were molded by many hands-the hands of teachers, the hands of friends, the hands of parents. Upon graduation, we will all go our separate ways-some are college bound, others begin new jobs in new cities, still others perhaps begin families-but all go their separate ways. No matter what that choice is, the senior's future is a direct result of the days at THS and the knowledge gained there. Having always looked forward to being the seniors, the class of 1970 had its dream come true on the first day of the f69-'70 school year. Numerous class meetings were held and with the assistance of Mr. Blum-horst, Mr. Beck, and the class officers, many important decisions were made-the selection of announcements, caps and gowns, and the choice of the colors. The class of 1970 selected green and gold as their colors, and the white rose as their flower. Their class motto, In Youth We Learn, In Age We Understand, exemplifies the completion of one cycle of education and life. The ultimate goal for which they were working was the sneak trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. In order to take this trip, approximately two thousand dollars was needed. This was raised by magazine sales, which raised more money than any year previous, class dues, a soup supper and the Senior Class Play. It was a lot of hard work but worth it when the ultimate goal was reached. Four years of high school life ended as forty-three seniors were awarded their diplomas. The class of 1970 was the first class to complete four years of high school and graduate from the new THS building. Jim Wolken
