The hopes of a first game victory were smashed when the Indians were defeated by a strong Falls City team 26-0. Nebraska City, undefeated during their entire season handed the Indians a 32-13 setback in a hard-fought battle. At Wymore, the Indians hit their low-point, being downed 12-7. The next five games ended in victories for T.H.S. In the Humboldt game, the victory hungry Indians trounced the visitors 69-0. After an easy victory, the Indians ground out a 25-0 victory over Feru in the first annual homecoming game. In the Ashland game, the second team played the entire second half and the Indians eased to a 33-14 triumph. Tecumseh, in their toughest game since Nebraska City, defeated the highly rated Auburn eleven 19-7. The final gane of the season, in which the regulars played less than half, ended in a 40-6 victory. Coach Don Anderson deserves much credit for doing a fine job with these future varsity players. 1 au.iiu As in past years, basketball remains one of the most popular varsity sports in Tecumseh. Highlights of tne exciting season can be shown in the fact that five games were played in overtime, Falls City, Beatrice, Syracuse, Crete, and Pawnee. The Indians copped second place in the Tecumseh Invitational Tournament. In regular season play, Tecumseh lias a record of nine wins and six losses. The Indians also ranked second in the Southeast Conference. Fred Boyden was selected on the All-Conference 1st team, while John Burns, and Steve Finn were selected on the 2nd team. The speaker was Gregg McBride, Omaha World-Herald sports editor. An all-conference first team award was given to Fred Bcyden and second team awards to John Burns and Steve Finn. Gifts were presented by Steve Finn, honorary captain of the year, to Frank Adams and Don Anderson, coaches. Oh, No!! Gregg McBride Smile, Please! The Senior Class play, Love Is in the Air, was given for the high school and the public on Tuesday, April 21. Mrs. Bugbee directed, and Nick Brammann was in charge of stage decorations. The play was a comedy concerning Mr. Truitt's children's concern over his lack of romantic inclinations, and his struggles to get out of a free jet plane ride by doing his best not to raise the most money for the air base as a loyal Son of a Buffalo. Louie John Schweppe, in his first play, appeared in the role of Elmer Truitt, the father who kept insisting that he was really a darn romantic guy. Carolyn Schacht handled the part of Mrs. Truitt perfectly. The oldest daughter Gladys was played by Jo Brock. Bill Hervey played Jo's brother Clarence, and did his usual good job of acting. The youngest Truitt, Maggie, was played by Nancy Person, and, according to John Burns, the part just fit her!! Fred Boyden as Gramps, stole the show with his false teeth and his inability to see where he was going. Harlan Greene played Hugo Nogginocker very capably, and Sylvia Warnke did a good job as Jackie Summers, the new girl in town. Roscoe Blipp, originally Cliff Boline's part, was done very well by Duane Cummins. In the part of Beanie was Keith Hutt. Poodles was Norma Jean Dwinell. The two Buffalo ladies were played by Ginny Hazen and Marge Farley. Anybody seen my parachute??
