Here, we set our goals high and strive to achieve them. By setting those goals, we have made great strides in growth, as seen with construction of the W.P. Woods Alumni Building, and the new Live Stock Show Barn. We aim for excellence in all things, so at THS, we're always Goin' for the Gold ... (Pictures in center are the entries in the yearbook Cover Design contest. Ed Set man was the winner with Sheila Folks and Steve Love as the finalists). Opening 3 ... whether it be in sports, academics, or just having fun. We're at our best at all times. Our Savage pride always shines, just like the pride the U.S. Olympic Team had in representing our country. We carry the same pride in our school, THS, where Goin' for the Gold is a way of life. For four years, THS has been their “se- cond home.” The teachers were like parents, and friends came to be like brothers and sisters. Now the family has gone into the “real world” to be productive members of society, but no matter how far they go in life, they will always have the memories of THS. Pictured Right. J.J. OK 74873 598-3901 THS Students Excel Amid Academic Changes This year has marked the beginning of important changes in the academics. Weighted classes, something new for THS, are worth a 5.0 A” instead of the usual 4.0 A. A more noticeable difference is the new grading scale. The new grading scale is: A (93-100), B (85-92), C (73-84). D (63-72), and F (0-62). The old grading scale was: A (95-100), B (85-94), C (75-84), D (65-74), F (below 65). A student with a “B average in a weighted class, such as an accelerated English class, would have the same 4.0 average as an A student in a regular or basic English class. The weighted classes include: Trig Math Analysis, Chemistry I and II, Algebra II as a freshman course, and Accelerated English at every level. Students exhibit enthusiasm for learning.
