Q Wlth an enrollment of 530 compared with that of 354 the enrollment of 1916 1n the year 1930 '31 Technical High began its first year as a true senior high with 197 sophomores 196 yumors and 142 seniors In 1916 the course of study was very dlfferent from that of our present one Numerous agricultural subJects were offered Although they were not required ancient and modern history subjects were suggested to the students As time went on many of the agricultural subjects were dropped and IH their stead were many science courses Instead of the present day four year Latin course a four year German course prevailed Commercial subJects were introduced one by one beglnmng Wlth the 1n1t1at1on of typewrltlng and this tendency towards more technical courses has continued Durlng the year 1916 17 the students were favored by a short school however all extra currlcular activities were conducted outside the regular school hours Class hours were only forty five mlnutes in length and classes were held stralght through the noon hour The first change IH length of day was wrought soon This postponed the closlng hour to two thirty The next change lengthened the day a half hour continuing It untll three o clock The next altered both beginning and closing time making the school hours eight thlrty to three Hfty In the present year 1930 31 the openmg hour was at first elght twenty and the closing hour three forty However at the begmn mg of the second semester the closing hour was changed to three thirty this bemg the present day schedule O 0 O Y I , 1 0 'I .
