FRESHIVIAN HISTORY Study Hall IO3 Saint Cloud Tech May 30, 1930 Dear Seniors: We admit that we are modest Freshmen, but out of the mouths of babes come words of wisdomn: therefore we are writing to you in order to show our qualifications for becoming upper-classmen. Realizing how necessary Freshmen are to the Tech, we left the good old H. S. to make our acquaintance with Miss Clark last September. One of the things which stand out in our high school memories is the squelching which we received from a senior lassie whom we mistook for a teacher. CShh! She wears a false pug. Keep it dark., On the evening of the Freshman Frolic, we made our social debut. ln the midst of the en- tertainment Santa Claus gave us suckers in token of our good behavior. We take this opportunity to thank the Sophomores for presenting us to the social elite of the school. During a class meeting, we selected Byron Barrl Betty Goehrs, and Evelyn Heiner as class officers. They have proved successful at conducting our affairs. We are very proud of David Olds for his manly efforts in declamation. He won first place in the humorous division with Mother Would Learn to Drive as his selection. ln the sub- district contest at Sauk Rapids, he was awarded first place. Our class has been represented in athletics. Class teams in basketball competed in both boys' and girls' tournaments. Lawrence Gidmark had the distinction of playing with the bas- ketball reserves while Byron Barr was a football reserve until he became disabled. Now having recovered from the severe attack of finals and having overcome the obstacles that Mrs. Trochill and Miss Empey presented by way of general science and algebra, we hope to add more glory to our name as sophomores and finally graduate as seniors-triumphant. Sincerely, The Freshmen. ii ' f 4 S -x. f b A -lx 1 W ' , ' T Y -, ..: 1. I X ' i Q 1 , - i, ' , . S . I lg lk l itll f 1 - Page 7'11fffr1fg1-Six
