HENRY HEWITT Gentleman, scholar and mas ter teacher are words that describe Henry Hewitt the person to whom this year’s Tech Tiger is dedicated. Mr. Hewitt, a graduate of Harvard and chairman of the Tech Mathematics Department, has been at Tech since 1935 with time out for a brief stint in the Armed Forces of World War II. Well-liked by students and fellow teachers, Henry has been a vital link in our mathematics department, always willing to help the poor student, encourage the average, and challenge the strong. Many younger teachers have profited from the examples that he set in his classroom. An avid follower of Tech sports, Mr. Hewitt is often seen cheering for the Orange and Black on the court, the gridiron and field. We have missed this man during the past year. We wish him success and happiness in the years to come. 17
