THE PEAK ZREWELL WOH SCHOOL z LET ee att f mee eae bE RT hy SUC aoe THE PEAK 1976 ; Since 1873, Tazewell High School has been a place for new ideas and exciting events. We hope that these ideas and events will continue to make a positive and lasting impression on the entire student body and the school as well. It is our sincere wish that these impressions will be ones of credit to Tazewell High School. There have been many friendships made and unforgettable experiences shared in the halls of Tazewell High. The annual staff considers these friendships and experiences to be the foundation for many wonder- ful memories. Each school year at T.H.S. will shape all the years of our future. Our years at Tazewell High School will be ones of lasting influence. We will be influenced by friends, administrators, and especially teachers. Hopefully, what we experience here will help us to do well in our ‘life after graduation.”’ Each member of the yearbook staff hopes that every student, whether senior or freshman, remembers and enjoys the student life reflected in the pages of this annual. It is therefore at once the honor and the privilege of the yearbook staff to present to you this thirty-fourth edition of our high school annual. We hope that you will enjoy the 1978 PEAK. BLL, Salam Editor Pike get iae Ge Rend te: = ae ; ne penne a curuse DEDICATION We take great pride in dedicating the 1978 PEAK to Mr. Russell Hatfield. Mr.-Hatfield has not only been the band director but also a credit to school spirit at Tazewel! High School since 1974. Mr. Hatfield is a 1962 graduate of Tazewell High. He attended Catawba College in Tennessee and was a member of the graduating class of 1966. He obtained his Masters Degree from Radford College in 1976. Mr. Hatfield is a member of the T.E.A., the N.E.A., and the V.E.A. He is involved in many school organizations, and several community groups as well. He is married and resides in Tazewell. Mr. Hatfield is truly a dedicated person who sacrifices not only his school time, but also much of his spare time, working for our school and the T.H.S. band. The many hours he spends working in the bandroom and on the field after the rest of us have gone home contributes to his recognition as a ‘Bulldog booster.’’ Since he has been here our band has improved greatly. He has worked tirelessly on upgrading this phase of our music program. Because of his efforts, Tazewell High has become a better school for everyone. We are certain that his influence will continue to be a positive factor on our band and school. We express our thanks and deepest appreciation for all he has done for us and for Tazewell High School. ¥ an bee yee Ai “You are what you take the time to become. . . - te Ps x % % 4 £. ‘ ll . - ¥ ae X . s I Be Se x ih ‘ . « « a Bc: ae = 6 a Sad 7 - =. oon 2 — Mr. Flynn As the principal of Tazewell High School | can truly say that our school is one of the strongest in the state. We are able to hold on to a rich heritage of pride and tradition which most schools lack in a modern society. Our faculty and student body are continu- ally striving to raise the standards of our school. | am very proud of our strong academic and athletic programs, and would like to see more competition next year. Principal, Se nf lynn Mr. Beggs | am proud to be working with the faculty and student body at Tazewell High School. The cooperative attitude of the students makes my job pleasant and rewarding. Together we can effectively deal with the problems facing public education. We can be proud of the history and traditions at Tazewell High School, but we look forward to the challenge of the future.
