ADVISOR: FRANCES SIMPSON , j  ♦ FOREWORD A friendship lost - but two friendships made. A moment of fear and anxiety - and then, one of joy and fulfillment. Nothing was lost everything was gained. Experience was our teacher. In this annual, 1 hope you will see expressed all the emo¬ tions that you have seen or felt in the last nine months. Confusion was never lacking. But, as you look back, recall the feelings that you have shared in striving for a certain goal. Remember the tenseness, the laughter, and the bustle of the classroom. But most of all, remember the spirit which grew and the joy which was felt from being a part - a part of this year which was special in some way to all ot us. Knowing you as you are and loving you for being that way, we, the annual staff present to you this annual. Fred Brown, Editor 1WELL HIGH SCHOOL . For this and many other reasons, we, the 1972 Annual Staff, proudly dedicate the 1972 edition of the “Peak” to Mrs. Marie Keenan and Mrs. Jean Walk. Both of these teachers unceasingly devote much of their own time and effort to the problems and activities of THS Students. Mrs. Walk diligently prepares many of her students for the business world through her teaching and sponsorship of our chapter of the FBLA. Mrs. Keenan also teaches student’s the merits of business, and manages to 4 Dedicate . . . maintain THS school spirit-even through those long winter months! Due to the efforts of one or both of these teachers, we have enjoyed such activities as the Miss THS pageant, the Annual Homecoming Week activities, the annual Christmas parade, Pep Club and FBLA activities, the dances after the football and basketball games, the Christmas Dance, and the various Senior class activities. To each of these teachers we wish to express our deepest appreciation for all they have done for us and for our high school. The THS’s own “Bobbsey Twins”, we say “THANK YOU!” Mrs. Jean Walk 5 Each of us must dream a dream. Each of us must catch a vision of something great. Each of us— in our own way- must learn something worth telling to others. Therefore— it seems to me— the objective of each generation ought to be to raise a better generation. To each of you— Best wishes and Godspeed Above: Principal, Ellis Fields sits at home, confined to chair and enjoys the days of recouperation after a leg operation (and the first day of school). Right: Oops-caught in the act!” (In Mr. Fields’absence, Mr. Wall sneaks into the principal’s office and tries out the chair for size.) Snapped in a typically busy pose, Mr. Brewster, assistant principal, displays the art of doing two things at once. All tied up as usual, Peggy Lawson, ever-faithful secretary, fills out yet another permission slip for Debi Surber. Pictured here, you will find yourselves in many activities in which you may have participated from March 1971 until graduation of 1972. Here you will see yourselves in the hectic days of school. Likewise, you will see yourselves sharing the fun of class participation and friendship throughout the y ear. Hopefully in these pages, you will see reflected many of the joys and fears which you have experienced from the beginning. 7 The Junior Class Proudly Presents The House No 8 body Lived In CAST Pat White. With the help of our counselors, state troopers, legislators, and judges, we learned much about our government. After we had set up our city and state government, we participated in party conventions and campaigns, an election, and an inaugu¬ ration for our newly-elected governor. We spent the whole week cheering for our “cities”, marching and meeting new friends. Boys’ and Girls’ State was a week packed with new knowledge and expe¬ riences. But most important, we put the fundamentals that we learned about our government into practice. ' 7r uju rn+ uL. Edwin Pruett 12 Smiles. . . Colors: Red and White Flower: White Rose We anxiously awaited the time when we would enter T.H.S. as Sophomores. We entered the halls with open minds anticipating each new experience and adventure. As our first task, we chose Billy Jones, Benny Nash, Mary Looney, and Bill Grant to be our class officers. With the approach of Homecoming week, we chose Loretta Duncan, who was escorted by Billy Jones, to be our atten¬ dant in the Homecoming court. Eddie Witten efficiently represented our class through¬ out the year as S.C.A. treasurer and in the spring we elected another capable classmate to serve as S.C.A. secretary for next year. Spring entered the halls of T.H.S. and two girls of our class radiantly ushered in the season as members of the May court. We have truly enjoyed our year as Sophomores and anxiously await our year as Juniors with the same anticipa¬ tion we felt last summer!! MOTTO: THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF WHAT WILL FOL¬ LOW. FLOWER: WHITE ROSE COLORS: RED BLUE FRESHMEN Anxiously we awaited the fall of 1971 when we would enter T.H.S. as mighty FRESHMEN. We soon got involved in many clubs and really began to show our school spirit. We cheered our football and basketball teams on to victory in our pep rallies and accepted the defeats with the maturity worthy of high school students. As our year continued we honored many of our fellow classmates by electing them to offices and various extracurricular activities. We began by electing Pam Matney, Robin Roberts, Becky Sluss, and Robin Cecil as our class officers. During the fall months, we elected Regina Howery our Homecoming Attendant and we sponsored Rita Wlutt in the MISS T.H.S. PAGEANT. At Christmas, we attended our first formal dance at T.H.S. as high school students, and dreaded the end of Christmas vacation and the beginning of exams. In May, we chose two of our female classmates as May Court Attendants, and at the climax of our year we chose the one student we felt most capable as the S.C.A. Treasurer. We attended our class party, and elected two more students as BEST-ALL AROUND FRESHMEN. We have enjoyed being Freshmen and eagerly await the sound of- SOPHOMORES NEXT! 1 18 Dorothy Altizer Nancy Altizer Jack Angles Tommy Angles Sarah Armes Frankie Asbury Helen Asbury James Asbury Linda Asbury Bruce Bandy Rita Bandy Mike Barnett Patricia Barnett Henry Barringer Joyce Baylor Brent Beavers Robert Beech Deborah Billips Drema Blackburn Brenda Boothe Jerry Boothe Barry Bourne Randy Bowling Robert Bowling Brenda Bowman Kelly Bradley Pat Brewster Teresa Brown Ernest Browning Carol Buchanan Mary Buchan an Charlene Buffalow Brenda Burkett Sarah Butcher John Carbough Robin Cecil James Chambers Toni Chambers Leigh Clark Herman Clements Drema Cline Calvin Cockrell Ronald Colley Bill Collins Deborah Combs Randy Conn Joe Cook Violet Cornwell Bobby Counts Linda Crockett Connie Crouse Melissa Crouse Sheri Cruey Garry Dalton Joel Davidson Roger Davis Debbie Denton Freeman Deskins Donald Diaz Timmy Dickens Sherrie Duty Cathy Dye Edward Elswick Thomas Evatt Jim Farrington Myra Fields Deborah Freeman Teddy Fuller Mary Garland Ray Gay ness Charles Gillespie Gary Glover Gerald Glover Jerry Glover Robert Goss Chester Graham Mary Hager Roger Hager Joseph Hagy Andre Hairston Carol Hall Debra Hall John Hampton Cindy Hankins Cathy Harman Cindy Harman Ann Harman Lynn Harman 120 Carolyn Harrison Hazel Harrison Johnnie Harrison Charles Hash George Hayes Ralph Heldreth John Helton Kathy Henegar Sharon Hess Bonnie Honaker Keith Horne Susan Horton Regina Howery Elizabeth Huff Thomas Hurd Larry Jewell Sandra Jones Randall Kegley Ulissa Kennedy Keith Kinder Madelene Kinder Wilman Kinder Roger Kitts Patricia Kitts Walter Kouchinsky Mary Kulchar Andy Lambert Ellen Lambert Ronnie Lambert Barbara Lawson Ivy Lawson Darrell Leftwich Barbara Lewis Joe Linkous Casper Lockhart Juanita Lockhart Pam Matney Katherine Marshall Connie McCann Danny McCann Rhonda McDaniel Glenn McGuire James Merritt Louise Merritt 121 Janet Miller Wilbert Mitchell Cindy Monk Clyde Monk Katherine Morrison James Murray Eddie Musick Randy Mustard Mike Myers Terry Naillon James Necessary Kenneth Neel Mary Nipper James Nowlin Marie Ollis Regina O’Quinn David Peery Maxine Peery Teresa Penland Harvey Perkins Kim Phillips Norman Poskas Kenny Powers Thomas Pridgen Sidney Pruett Michael Puckett Patricia Puckett Claudia Rainey Steve Rainey Kathy Ramey Donna Rasnick James Ratliff John Ratliff Jack Remines Shirley Richardson Teresa Richardson Linda Riley Retha Roark Melanie Roberts Robin Roberts Karen Rose Sandra Rose Steve Ross Minnie Salyers 122 Catalina Schrader Kenneth Shaw Douglas Sheets Kenneth Shepard Sandra Shepard Billie Shutt Rebecca Sluss Steve Snapp Joyce Sparks Roger Sparks Sherry Sparks Wanda Spencer Loretta Spickelmier Philip Stiltner Clinton Street Jenny Surface Mark Swafford June Taylor Barbara Thompson Claudine Thompson James Tibbs Diane Toney Dorothy Tullock Connie Turley David Vance Ronald Vance Preston Vanhoozier Ralph Vencill Freddie Waldran Sharon Warf Barry White Debra White James White Tim White Danny Whitt James Whitt Rita Whitt Danny Williams David Williams Maria Wilson Philip Wimmer Marnell Woods Dean Wright Clifford Wyatt 123 Valorie Wyatt Kenneth Yates Lynn Yielding Beverly York Carolyn Yost Joseph Yost Pamela Yost Stan Young Mad scientist at work!!
