Activities Another important phase of a high school career is student activities. These activities in addition to academic studies are designed to help students become well-rounded. The band is an important student activity. Al¬ though small in size, its members are an enthusi¬ astic and vital part of T. H. S. Our cheerleaders are also important. They led the cheers of the stu¬ dent body which helped cheer our teams to victory. T. H. S. has many clubs which help the students become good-all-around students. Many of the athletes are members of the Monogram Club. The F. T. A. encourages girls to consider teaching as a career. The Projector Club boys learn to operate and take care of projectors and other equipment. T. H. S. clubs are designed for different interests and each and every student can find an activity which interests him. 12

Grrrrr-eat! ! ! Yea Bulldogs! ! T. H. S. starts its sports year with football. We scream and we yell urging the team on to victory. Then comes basketball and we yell again. Though we may not always win we are loyal to the team. Later on, we support our golf, track and wrestling teams. The T. H. S. coaches and faculty try to instill sportsmanship in every member of the student body. Last year for the first time, T. H. S. succeeded in winning the Sportsmanship trophy for basketball. Many of our best athletes try to set standards of good sportsmanship for others, knowing that they influence other students.

Several clubs have sponsored dances after athletic contests. This, too, contributes to the making of a well-rounded student. T. H. S. also provides other activities. In November many students particpated in the production of the annual Senior Play. Earlier in the year a group of students appeared on Klassroom Kuiz. in Roanoke, Virginia. Then in December a Christmas Pageant was presented and Mr. Davis or¬ ganized a Senior choir. This choir sang carols for the pageant. The annual May Day is another important student activity. The physical education department produces this program and it is always well received. These activities all contribute to the making of a well-rounded person. In addi¬ tion, students learn to rely and depend on each other. But Father, I live here!
