Walthall Mr. Claude VanDyke ADMINISTRATION Some years ago, a certain novel enjoyed a brief moment of popularity on the best-seller list, and then was heard no more. However, there was one character in it who has never faded from my memory: the old man who had served the school for many years as its janitor, and who was beloved by all the student body. To every graduating boy or girl, he had the same advice. Be good, and reflect credit on your school. Speaking to the students of Tazewell High School through this page, and to those who remain for yet a little while, I could never improve upon this admonition. But I might add two words to it. Be good; do good; and reflect credit o n your school. It ' s as simple as that! If we are good, and if we do some good, then we cannot help but make this school proud of us. And every teacher, every worker, every parent will feel amply repaid for this efforts. Mr. Dick Walthall Miss Carole Clifton ■m ■ FACULTY Mrs. Sarah Bowen Mrs. Virginia Boye Miss Mattie Brooks Mr. J. Three years of hard work had brought us this far and we were determined that one more year of the same would see us through to graduation! Officially we were known as The Senior Class of 1960 but it took us quite awhile to become used to that title. Now, as we look back over the past year, we remember how proud we were of our talent show, our teams, our play, and our many other activities. We did not realize then that our active participation in these things would soon come to an end. We have reached the end of our high school days but our memories of Tazewell High School will always be wonderful. Class Motto - Make the best better Class Colors - Green and pink. It was really nice to realize last fall that we had already completed half of ou r high school training--two years of work and play while we were establishing ourselves at Tazewell High School. We really did plunge into our studies and athletics with enthusiasm in order that we might be able to accept our many responsibilities next year as seniors. Our greatest thrill came in the auditorium when, after having watched the seniors file out, we heard the words, Junior ' s next . Fifteen rahs for the Junior class of T.H.S. Because of the eighth grade, many of the Jeffersonville students who normally would have been with us were put in this new grade. This fact accounts for the size of our class which is composed of students who have transferred from other schools. Even though we do not have class offi¬ cers, we participate in most other school activities such as superlatives. May Day, and assembly programs. After abusy vacation we were happy to begin our second year in Tazewell High School. This past year many of our boys have been active in basketball, football, and baseball, and we are very proud of our S.C.A. officer. As we look forward to next year, we want to make the freshman class the best class in Tazewell High School. Hurrah for the class of ' 63! Motto: Strive for higher honor. How well we remember the excitement oi our first days and weeks here as we tried to locate our classrooms and accus¬ tom ourselves to the general routine! Now that we have completed a year of study and play the teachers do not seem so fierce, the halls so long, the stairs so steep, or the seniors so numerous as they did last August 31. Yes, when we hear the P.A. system click on, or the strains It ' s Tazewell High School, it ' s Tazewell High School, the pride of every student here,! we realize that we are, indeed, a part of dear ole T.H.S. !
