Glass jlglsfory The dawning of our Age of Aquarius began in the fall of 1967. That year, we entered Taylorsville High School as freshmen - ready to conquer the world. Our esteemed sponsors were Mrs. Lilly, Mr. Downs, Mr. Fister and Mr. Carr. We were honored that year to have as Mr. and Miss Freshman, Randy Dixon and April Jewell. The Freshman King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival were Nancy Bryant and David Thompson. As we were just getting organized as a class, we did not elect class officers. Our freshman year also heralded the arrival of a large part of our high school years - Mr. Iverson Warinner was now a part of the THS Faculty In the fall of 1968, we returned as sophomores to shed our glory in the musty halls of THS. Our sponsors this year were Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Lawson and Mr. Noel. To represent our class at its best, we chose Arlene Ware and Tommy Cook as Mr. and Miss Sophomore. This year proved to be a year of winners: Sue Clark and David Thompson, our representatives to the Halloween Carnival, were crowned King and Queen of the entire Halloween Festival: Mary Ann Carrithers continued our winning streak when she won the title of Homecoming Queen 1969: Miss Spencer County, 1969, Miss Sherry Mudd, was also a member of our class. Brenda Sparrow represented our class as an alternate on the WAVE-TV High-Q Program. To guide our class this year, we elected the able Hank Lawson as President. Tony Shirley, Vice President, Robin Bennett, Secretary, Wayne Whitaker, Treasurer, and Randy Dixon, Reporter. With the news that Mr. Noel would continue to sponsor us throughout the remainder of our high school years, we waited our senior and junior years with expectation. We blasted to an exciting and swinging junior year with the swingest sponsors, Mr. Noel and Mr. Whit- lock. Representing our class as Mr. and Miss Junior were Terry Brookshire and Vicki Tapp. Our Halloween Carnival nominees were Tony Shirley and Mary Jane Greenwell. Nancy Bryant continued our winning streak by being selected Homecoming Queen Runner-Up. Brenda Sparrow as a team member and Joey Lilly as an alternate, represented our school and class on the WAVE-TV High-Q Program. Gary Carrithers, Wanda Edwards, Joey Lilly and Brenda Sparrow were chosen from our class to be represented in Merit's Who's Who in American High Schools. Led by such outstanding officers as Joey Lilly, President: Gary Carrithers, Vice Pres- ident: Margie McDavitt, Secretary: Judy Marion, Treasurer: and Peggy Golyer, Reporter, we were preparing for the highlight of our year, the presentation of the Junior-Senior Prom. We chose AQUARIUS as our theme. The work, the plans, the squabbles, all paid off on that memorable night, May 1, 1970, when we presented the greatest prom ever in the history of THS . . . this has proven to be one of the major highlights of our high school career. One of the greatest catastrophes that could ever befall a class happened to us at the close of our junior year. Tommy Cook, one of our friends and fellow classmates, drowned while swimming in Salt River. It was a crushing blow to our class, because we feel a definite closeness and a unaminity in spirit. We attended his funeral as a class, and we still, today, miss his presence. Anticipating the greatest year of our life, we rocketed into our Senior Year. Our sponsors this year were Mr. Noel, and Mr. Warinner C35 pounds lighterj. One of the greatest honors of being a senior, the title of Mr. and Miss Senior were bestowed on Tony Shirley and Robin Bennett. The Halloween Carnival was brightly lit by the smiles of our Senior nominees. Barbara Noel and Roger Hardin. Again showing our class superiority. Nancy Bryant was crowned queen of Homecoming. All of our seniors are great, but Terry Brookshire. Nancy Bryant, Shirley Thomas, Tony Shirley, Robin Bennett and Margie McDavitt were chosen to appear in Merit's Who's Who in American High Schools. To handle the truly important business of the senior class, we chose Terry Brookshire as President. Hank Lawson was elected as vice president, Robin Bennett, secretary and trea- surer, and Tony Shirley as reporter. Gary Carrithers and Robin Bennett as editors of our yearbook, AQUARIUS, worked to produce the largest, most colorful, and most unique annual in THS history. The speech and drama class produced as their competition play, THE OCTOGENERIAN, to be presented in competition at the Kentucky High School Speech League competition at the University of Louisville. On April 30 and May 1, the seniors will present, THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER, the award winning Broadway success by Kaufman and Hart. Graduation will conclude our long journey through the4 Age of Aquarius. 10-9-8-'7-6-5-4-3-2-1 - BLAST OFF'
