Q F f x if M1::zi?E:g::mlfQSS::ni3?5SLZ?zi-SQ2?zi'::2232i :r HISTORY OF CLASS OF '42 In September 1958, seventy four eager boys and girls entered the eighth grade at Taylors se much that we wondered why we should contlnue in school any longer However, we soon began to feel that we did not know so much after all Each succeeding year we realized thls more and more and now as we come to the close of our Senlor year, feel that in the realm of knowledge we have as yet made only a small beginning Our strug les and discoura ements have been many but they have nOt been ln vain, for ehqr have served to ake us more perseverirf an ambitioud to accompllsh sometning worth while Our Freshman class was so lar that it was divided lnto two sectlons under the leadershlp of Miss Jeannette Floyd and Mr M E Hyder NP Hyder, who soon left us, was succeeded by Mr Carl McHugh That year our presldents were Addie Mae Lazar and Bettha Bishop Mildred Long, Helen Mauney J H rson, Louise Wilson, Bertha Bishop, and Robert Stewart tained pl c s of the basketball teams In the Sophomore year, our class contlnued year our sponsors were Miss Mildred Tucker and Mr C F Ballantine The class plcridents were Betty Henson Yoma havra anl Alvin Phillips Ruby Grice, Mar aret Sammons, and Franc s Luncan were elected as Council representatives Dary Louise Nash was secretary and treasurer of the Student Councll our Junlor year ue wer eo blHC3 into one sectl n under the leadershlp of Mrs Pltts Jewelle Price was chosen Council re resentative Other ouncil members furnished by our class were Sti fel az r, chairman of the Bulletln Board Committee soma Mavra, chalrman of the Traffic Comr1ttee,Mary ouise Nash, chalrman of the Pro tv Committee nd Margaret Sammons, vice president of the Student ody Our Beta Club members were Sue Freeman, Stie el Lazar, Margaret Sammons, Jewelle Westmoreland, lar Louise Nash agd dd estmorelanf was our presldent, and Ruby 1 X 'E TX J I , . Not only this year but every year furnished many members to the Glee Club e are Ju t another class of boys and glTlS who wlll go quietly away as all classes before us have done, and other classes w1ll rlse up to take our places But will we forget?
