Division of Social Sciences In the Division of Social Sciences, the emphasis is on people. Through a study of history, geogra- phy, economics, political science, psychology, or sociology one is able to better understand the so- ciety in which he lives. Both the civilization and the individual become the objects of study; the relative importance of the past on the present and the future is a major consideration.
