Fritz checks plans on trip to Washington D.C. ...GROW POLITICALLY Historical Society grew in size again this year by ini- tiating sixteen members. Our two foreign exchange students, Andre Jacobi and Rocio Ramos, were included as honorary members. The members worked the last half of the basketball concessions to earn money for their annual trip. This year the trip was to Chicago, and the members and chaperones stayed at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. They visited the Presidential Building, Museum of Science and Industry, Old Town, the Planetarium, and O ' Hare Airport. They went shopping downtown and attended a banquet at the Ivanhoe Restaurant. As part of an honor for Taylor, the Historical Soci- ety sent Fritz Foster to Washington D.C, for one week. There he attended the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans. This was a study of the in and outs of our federal government. Molly Gibson and Allen Holder represented Taylor High School by attending the area dinner for Jr. His- torical Societies. Roger Daume, Linda Gillespie, Mrs. Steiner and Mrs. Hulka represented the Seniors by at- tending the 5th Annual Birch Bayh Workshop. The Historical Society was put to work by helping with the cleaning of the student lounge. National Honor Society had a successful year on their money making projects. They sponsored a sock hop and held cake raffles at basketball games. From the proceeds from the raffles they gave away two $100 scholarships; one to Greg Foust and one to Pat Smith. This year seventeen new honor students were ini- tiated into the society. After the initiation all the members and their parents were guests at a reception in the home economics room at school.
