BETTY CROCKER AWARD Shelly Stevens made bed-room slippers in beginning knitting class. Besides cooking, students learn how to keep a clean kitchen. Cutting out patterns is a part of dress making. Eighth graders make their first sewing project.

MARY ANN HUBER WINS The senior homemakers learn the aspects of antiqueing. The home ec. students were very busy this year. Se- nior home ec. students made candle sticks out of old table legs, upholstered old chairs and made formals out of unusual fabrics. The juniors learned how to tailor and their main project this year was making a wool suit with lining. A unit on window treatment, flower arrangement, and good arrangement of home furnishings was completed by the sophomore classes. Cotton suits were also made by the sophomores. Cotton, A-line dresses with sleeves, were made by first year home ec. students and pant-jumpers were made by the eighth graders. The eighth graders also studied child care and money management. The seventh graders learned how to make breakfast, fix snacks, cook quick meals, and prepare sandwiches in addition to studying about family relations and good grooming. Students have new sewing machines to work with.

A TIME TO... With the success of sales and advertisements, the Helio staff has brought to you a better and more colorful yearbook. Besides raising money from sponsoring after game dances, they also sold pictures from school dances. Positions were held by: Mr. Lamberson, sponsor; Ann Maple, editor; Pat Smith, assistant editor; Pat Fogle and Pam Wagner, academics; Cindy Giles, ac- tivities; Don Etherington, advertising; Rick Frazier, faculty; Martha Dragoo, organizations; Charles Wolf, photography; Linda Ironmonger and Debbie Cun- ningham, proofreading and index; Tom Young, sports; Sherri Richmond, student life; and Terry Manning, classes. Other members included Dan Roe, Wendell Beals, Mike Jennings, and Tom Sutton.
