IN ART EXHIBIT Janice Cook adds the finishing touches to her oil painting. Novel ideas formed visually exciting shapes and unique experiences for the more esthetic Taylor High School students. Art classes offered include Art I, II, III, and IV. Art I went into copper enameling and pottery. Art II studied the careers in art and commercial design. The study of advanced problems and techniques in design were combined in Art III and IV. Taylor art students showed their creations at the first annual Public Art Exhibit. A number of Taylor ' s students displayed their works and awards were given to grades one to twelve. The showing was held in the gym and cafeteria April 1, 1970. The art department was headed by Mr. David Harris. Also the art department received new equip- ment; looms, easels, a printing press, and drawing tables. Regina Herron tries her hand on rug making.

A TIME TO... APPLY KNOWLEDGE In our rapidly changing technological society, each person ' s need for business education has become even more important! To meet this change, THS offered a variety of classes, in addition to those normally of- fered, to help students prepare for positions as busi- ness leaders and consumers. In addition to those nor- mally offered there is Bookkeeping II, Shorthand II, Office Practice, Business Law, Business English and Business Math. Added to the Business Department facilities were many new typewriters, adding machines, and cal- culators. Approximately 430 students were enrolled in THS business courses. Chris Grills uses the dictation phones for increasing speed in shorthand. First year typing students concentrate on accuracy and efficiency.
