u WE VENTURE . . . We venture to shape the future of the world to be born under our footsteps. That is the motto of the Class of 1970. As graduation day came, the members of the senior class found themselves looking back at what their high school goals had been and how many of those goals had been reached. But more importantly, the seniors looked also to the future and to the world to be born under our footsteps. Some looked forward to college, some to a job, some to marriage. Yet no matter where the members of the Class of 1970 go, there will always linger the memories of their final days at Taylor High School. Graduation week started with an Honors Day pro- gram. Tim Schreck was named Valedictorian and Linda Gillespie was named Salutatorian. Several se- niors received scholarships from school clubs, outside organizations, and colleges. Many others received recognition for outstanding work in various academic departments. During commencement rehearsal, the seniors tried on their robes and mortarboards. The band was present to play the processional. After the rehearsal, the senior class and its sponsors attended a dinner at Montes Restaurant. Plaques of appreciation were presented to Mrs. Linda Donelson, Mr. Jerry Lam- berson, and Mr. Ray Richardson. The guest speaker at Taylor ' s second graduation was Congressman Richard L. Roudebush. Congressman Roudebush advised the class, Don ' t sell the American system short .... Don ' t belittle our competitive society of industry and commerce .... Don ' t downgrade the future. Speeches were also given by Tim Schreck and Linda Gillespie. Reverend Schreck gave the invoca- tion and benediction. Following the graduation exercises, the Class of 1970 celebrated at their Senior Fling at the YWCA. Swimming, tennis, roller skating, dancing and other activities were available. Gifts were presented throughout the night to all the seniors. As the Class of 1970 departs, it looks forward anx- iously to homecoming and alumni dinners. To the graduates, good luck and may all your hopes and dreams be met. jf ' ' x . ' , $« £ £ £ ifeSftf Class President Greg Foust receives his diploma from Superin- tendent Andrew Fernung.
