Cheryl Clarner Ranks First In Mathematics Examination Each year top math students within our school compete in the Annual High School Mathematics Examination. This contest is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, Society Actuaries, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Coun- cil of Teachers of Mathematics. Cheryl Clarner, a junior, won first place. In the competition, Cheryl took tests in all fields of mathematics. Her scores along with the scores of the second and third place winners are sent to a national level of competition. At a later date the top one hundred students in the nation are announced. 120

Constructing difficult diagrams in analytic geometry becomes a routine for Larry and Dave. After constructing the diagram correctly the problem must be solved. Trigonometry students were taught how to use a surveyor ' s transit for a class project. Later, they measured the flag pole using what they learned.
