FIGHTING BULLDOGS 132 1964 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS September 18 - Florida High The Taylor High Bulldogs kicked off the 1964 season by downing the Florida High Demons 18-6. The Bulldogs scored touchdowns in the first, second, and fourth quarter against a Florida High eleven that boasted superior re- serves and experiences. September 25 - Monticello The 1 aylor County High Bulldogs battered outgunned Monticello 28-0, for their second win of the season. The Bulldogs hammered the Tigers with a balanced running attack and piled up 284 yards on the ground while the Bull- dogs defense held Monticello to 93. October 2 - New Smyrna Beach The Bulldogs scored in every quarter to whip the Barracudas 29-0. The defense aided with three pass interceptions and several recovered fumbles. October 9 - Cairo Perry's determined Bulldogs stunned top-ranked Cairo Syrupmakers 10-7 before a capacity crowd of Bulldog boosters. Scoring for Perry was Eddie Kinsey. PAT and field goal were added by Johnny Anderson. We could not have won without the outstanding Bulldog defense. October 16 - Quincy A fired-up Quincy eleven downed the Bulldogs by a 27-14 score. Quincy gained 445 yards on the ground while the orange and blue was held to 60. Perry's TD's were made by 61-yard and 73-yard passes and a pass interception. October 23 - Live Oak The high-spirited Taylor Bulldogs upset mighty Live Oak by a 13-7 score before a capacity crowd. The Bulldogs offense tied the score 7-7 with only seconds left in the first half, and moved 80 yards for a TD in the closing minutes to win the game. October 30 - Pensacola Tech The Perry Bulldogs their second defeat of the season at the hands of the Aggies, 26-7. The only Bulldogs TD came early in the second half. Fumbles plagued the Bulldogs all night. November 6 - Madison Jerry Rainwaters scored touchdowns on runs of 30 and 75 yards to lead the Bulldogs to a 21-19 victory over the Red Devils, thus spoiling their Homecoming. The Bulldogs took the lead early in the second quarter and held off the threatening Red Devils until the final gun. Anderson's toe was there for the all important PATs. November 13 - Rickards The Bulldogs thrashed the Rickards Redskins 18-6 for their seventh victory of the season. It was Homecoming and the entire senior squad met the officials in the field for the toss of the coin. November 20 - Lake City The Perrys wound up their 1964 football season in defeat 26-6 to an undefeated Lake City team that won the Region- al Championship. The Bulldogs, crippled by injuries to key players all year long, were unable to hold the enraged Tigers. The team played three other matches during the season; two with Leon High School and one with Pensacola. All three were lost but the team fought all the way and are expected to have a top team in 65. GOLF The Golf Team was coached by Gilbert Barr and was manned by Walt Lamb, Stephen Hollowell, Richard West, Joe Mathis, and Steve Thomas. They partici- pated in six matches, of which they took four. The team competed five times with Madison and once with Starke. Madison fell to the team four times, while the Bulldogs only lost once. Starke defeated our boys, but not without a fight.
