TELEGRAMS OF REGRET Last night, as 1 sat thinking of the class reunions we hope to enjoy together in the future, I found myself imagining the result if, at some given date, say ten years from now, every member of the class should be too busy to attend the reunion. But, I thought, how interesting if on the morning of the reunion each absentee sent a telegram in which was stated the sender occupation and reason for absence. I became so engrossed in the idea that I even pictured to myself the exact wording of the tele grams the various people would send. Would you like to hear them? Keeping a pet shop. As a class, we leave to the— Principal: A large ammonia coke to enable him to survive the dreary days without us. Faculty: The straight A average of the senior class. Juniors: Our cancelled hotel reservations at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D. C. Sophomores: The electricity bill for our many nights of study. Freshmen: Our cherished dreams of a new high school. As individuals, we bequeath the following: I, Jimmie Adams, leave my extreme height to Kenneth Lawson. I, Joyce Attaway, will my tallness to Mary Ann Blume. I, Drexel Agncr, will my ability to grow tall and to stay out of trouble to Herbert Hendry. I, Eston Hendry, will my ability to play basketball to Jimmy Underwood. I, Jackie DuBose, do hereby will my ability to get along with Mr. Weaver to Macky Williams. I, Bob Holley, will my title, The Dog to anyone who can fit it, suggestion—Elmer Coker. I, Ruth Edmonson, will my seat in Bert's car to Carol Carter. I, Wayne Howell, do will my blond hair to Joe Burroughs. I, Rodell Faulkner, will my privilege of coming to school only two periods a day to Sidney Swain. I, Bert Kuhn, will my jeep to my brother, Wayne. May he enjoy those cold mornings driving from Boyd as much as I did. I, Janice Franklin, will my boisterous ways to Dob Watts. I, Tommy Williams, wUl my reputation of going stag to all the dances but still managing to have a partner for every dance to all the stag going boys.
