CLASS HISTORY Taken from The Seniors' Diary Dear Diary, We, the seniors, are now in 1950, the turn of the century, completing the building which we began in 1938. The twenty-six young student employees on this hard and tedious job were Jimmie Lee Courtney, Lamar Strickland, Lillie Merle Cruce, Joyce Cox, Mary Anne Lundy, Betty Kasell, Dorothy Jean Holton, Jettie Pearl Rogers, Betty Revels, Louise Connell, Lois Turnage, La Marion Mattair, Betty Ferns, Ted and Fred Lehman, Frank Warren, Billy Lillott, Arthur Morgan, Virgil Taylor, Joe Ed Hart, Billy Martin, James Sauls, Harvey Fleet, Gary Dorman, Billy Davis, and Jimmy Greene. It seemed only a short time before we were on our second and third tasks and a few more learning craftsmen, Johnny Graham and Imogene Maddox, joined our staff. We stayed united until we began the fifth grade. During the war years, several of our number moved away, but rejoined us within one or two years. The members were Fred and Ted Lehman, Louise Connell, Betty Kasell, Dorothy Jean Holton, Lamar Strickland, and Jettie Rodgers. Even though a little stunned in thinking about our next grade achieve- ments, we started our seventh grade with more enthusiasm. We were joined again by Anita Brown, and Betty Ferns. Bill Brown joined us in the ninth grade. There were many new attractions added during our eleventh year, for we were joined by the 1947-48 graduating class from Foley. Craftsmen in this group included: Mary Carey, La Vonne Forehand, Edith Parker, Ann Mixon, Imogene Maddox, Alvin Hightower, Warren Ferrell, Charles Shin- holser, Joe Ed Hart, Reginald Hall, and Bernard Brinson. Two completely new comers to our town joined us, Sherrill Dansby and Keats Washburn. For the last year of the work on our educational building, we were joined by Kelly Durden, Billy Starks, Jacky Alvarez, Doyle Revels, and Bertha Strickland. Now that our building has been completed, we, the Seniors, realize that the FACULTY has given its untiring efforts, to filling our minds with facts and figures of the past, and of the present, and deserves our most heartfelt appreciation.
