A 'QA SUPERINTENDENT W. B. Owen The Best Years of Your Life - Don'l Waste Them! The expression that high school days are the best of your life may sound a little foolish to youngsters who are always looking ahead toward more pleasant and prosperous times. As the years go by, however, more and more they will harken backward toward those years realizing that successes and failures alike had their beginnings during the adolescent age. Sometime during the present year the writer took occasion to speak in assembly on the subject, The business of this school is to develop ladies and gentlemen. As a rule, if that objectiyc is accomplished, all other things will he added unto you. Ladies and gentlemen will be God -fearing, industrious, open-minded individuals determined to do something worthwhile with themselves and their lives. They will be aware of the shortcomings of particular measures of success, wealth, power, authority and all others that are insufficient of themselves. They will learn to recognize their strengths, weaknesses, and become determined to realize their potential, refusing to be made ridiculous by attempting things beneath their dignity or beyond their capabilities. They will Conte to differentiate among values, to respect the rights of others, and to put first things first relegating to the junk heap those thoughts and actions that are unbe- coming to Ladies and Gentlemen of Taylor County High School. We want you not only to have the best but be the best to the end that you become a person never to be ashamed. 5 P
