Weapons department consists of Fire Control Technicians, Gunner's Mates, Torpedoman's Mates, Sonar Technicians and First Division. J The FT's are responsible for the upkeep of the ship's Fire Control System radars. The GM's maintain the 5 inch 54 caliber guns located forward and aft. The gunners played a key role while off the coast of Beirut by providing superior Naval Gunfire Support. Submarines are always a threat to surface craft. However, there is a flip side. TA TTNALL has the manning power of ST's, TM's and GMT's. These men are prepared to search, find and destroy enemy submarines if required. The GMT's maintain the Anti-Submarine Rocket Launcher amidships. 34 -Y - MW H
