To the Ea'iiorr: A dream has come true! Twenty-three years ago, a school of very modest proportions opened its two doors in a house on Rodney Street to admit a few pupils. Last fall the multiple successors of those first few students swarmed over the fifteen acres of Sedgely and entered the six doors of a large building to begin a new year. During those two decades, plans for enlarging the school had assumed many forms in the minds of those who could envision only growth, progress, and expansion for Tatnall. As the number of students increased and varied activities augumented the curriculum, the school actually spilled over into three other buildings, parks, the Y.W.C.A., and even parts of private homes. At times the dream became a nightmare! But with Sedgely came the realization of the hopes and aspirations of all in whose hearts Tatnall holds such a promi- nent place. A dream has become a reality,-the -school acquired property admirably adapted to its diversified activities, and, most important, room in which to continue its growth. There is a peculiar quality about Tatnall which is found in few other schools, a feeling of oneness, of unity, of being members, one of another. Perhaps the home atmosphere of the early days produced this feeling which has been passed on, subconsciously, from class to class through the years. How very significant to have the new school once again located in a home and sur- rounded by lawns which have afforded play space for sisters, cousins, friends, for years. Kitchens have become laboratories, dining rooms are class rooms, bedrooms are libraries, but the home is still a busy home. Tag and hide-and- seek have given way to hockey and tennis, but the spirit is the same, for is it not true that the participants are still sisters, cousins, friends? And, as such, each member of the school is, and always will be, a member of the family, the Tatnall School family, in the new family home, Sedgely. Harriette B. Griffith.
