WM, .nr -m I 4 ' The Commodore baseball team really put it all together this year, end- ing the season with a 21-4 record, losing only to Sayre, Iroquois, and La- fayette in regular season play. The biggest upset produced by the team was the double header that T. C. won over Elizabethtown, 1970 State Champi- ons. Although favored to win the district and possibly the state, T, C. lost to l-lemy Clay in the opener of the district tourney. This year's team set new records with three batters hitting over .400, and a team average of . 346. The team was led in hitting by John Vandermale, Craig Wilkie, and Ben Bransom. Ben, voted most valuable offensive player, hit a tremendous .516 and got 12 home runs, three of which came in one game. Leading defensive players were Bill Papania, and Steve Gilvin. Ed McCaw, the winningest pitcher ever at T, C. , Mike Richie, and Fred Nelson headed the pitching roster. All the boys played as a team , using all their ability and determination to win. Coaches Ron Cole and C. D, Gentry put all these qualities together, and with a little help from the Hershey Choco- late Company, produced the best team ever at 'T.C, !
