The girls tennis team coached by Mr Roy Walton gave a fine perform ance tlus year ending the season with an 18 2 record The only matches TC dropped were against rival Henry Clay However the Commodore girls pulled through when it really counted as Mary Pat Wheeler defeated Henry Clay s Barbara Watson for the singles crown in the Regional Mary Pat then advanced to the semi finals in the State Susan Sturma and Jane Wheeler were victors in the Regional defeating H C s duo The defending state champions made it three in a row bringing home the number 1 doubles trophy 1, FIR Ro: KOV C. TATES CREEK 'S BOYS' GOLF TEAM: Coach Abney, Ben Ferrell, Norm Bamhart, Steve Cox, Jim Byington, Tommy Phillipps, Jim Wise. BARNHART LEADS C GOLFERS T0 SIXTH IN STATE Norm Bamhart shot a toumament low 146 to lead the Commo- dores to a sixth place finish in the state golf toumament Jim Byington shot a 155 while two freshmen Jim Wise and Steve Cox had respective totals of 168 and 170 Bamhart s 146 outshone the 149 card of toumey favorite Dennis Hurley of Covington Catholic Although many team members felt that the team could have placed in thc top three the prospects for next season are bright as Norm Bamhart Jim Byington and others are retuming to Coach Abney s squad fC's Ca: j r
