Wearing pins designed with their official colors, the i2 charter members began a whirl of activities. ln March, their initiation paiarna party was dis- rupted by APO members who kidnapped the entire group and took them for an early morning breakfast. APO also assisted them when they converted the SUB into a gambling casino on May lo, Les Avolontes members set the pace for the day with a costumed per- formance of a canecan during activity period, Between classes, APO members distributed play money and pree sided over tables of blackiack, roulette, poker, and casino The games continued c1t night when most of the tables in the dining room were pushed back for a campus dance, Other proiects included a bake Sale, rummage sale, and Kiddie Day - for which prospective pledges dressed as children, The last service proiect, another ioint effort with APO, was a picnic at Forest Park for twenty-eight orphans, Officers were Pat Callaway, president, Sherry New- man, vice president, Linda Mercado, secretary, Becki Bar- ley, treasurer, Delilah Durst, parlicimentarian, Dr. Sue Nordauist and Miss Neva Peters, sponsors. Kappa Adds New Campus Events KAPPA beau John Farley escorts Taurus sweetheart Kathy Klint. Kappa repeated several campus activities this year and introduced four new ones, The girls service sorority planned competition and provided prizes for the tradi- tional Sadie Hawkins Day, the Easter Egg Hunt, and the Ugly-Man-on-Campus Contest - a fund raising proiect. New activities were a Slave Sale, Kappa Karols, Kappa Kite Flight, and a Christmas Presentation. On the first service proiect, they made Halloween puppets and puzzles for children at Peter Smith Hospital. Other projects included collecting food for needy families for Thanksgiving by sponsoring a dance with a can of food as the admission price, collecting and sending cards and books to Vietnam, tutoring under- privileged children, and taking orphans to the zoo. New members and their dates were honored with a hay-ride and a Wiener roast in the fall, and pledges were treated to a Hooty Hunt in the spring.
