Young Music Sounds Hit Compu , Xi. 'X --A Xw f Keith Sykes, who composes the material he sings, appeared on CUWDUS Through the Coltee House Circuit which includes many area colleges 9 Paun McKinnon brought her own brand of music to the Living Poom She prefers live composers for her versions of the folk music style. G Dusty Blues sings a song he wrote depicting the loss ofa love affair, V, All l -C ,wwf f,..,. . ff' 1 , ui' .LQ I -x-K . 5 2 N' V- . Q if A pop singer and composer, two folk singers, and a touring group brought the musical sounds of American youth to the campus in the fall semester. Perking up the Coffee House with a blend of folk- rock music was Raun McKinnon. l don't really sing folk songs, she said, but songs written by someone who is living, Contemporary folk singer Dusty Blues, a Northeast Campus freshman, gave several November performances. Dusty, who composed some of the songs he performed, said that he likes thinking music. in the pop vein, the Coffee House Circuit presented Keith Sykes accompanied by bass player Mike Goldfarb, The SUB patio was packed with people when a partial cast of Up With People gave a preview of their TCU concert. The colorfully attired and fast paced group kept the audience applauding such songs as Freedom lsn't Free, What Color ls Gods Skin? and their theme song Up With People. No one in the group receives a salary, and travel- ing expenses are paid by concert tickets, contributions, and record sales, Traveling around the world with each of the three main casts are two nurses and a teacher. College students are offered correspondence courses through the University of Nebraska, 5 ,ay , i N!
