Laires' Carillon Theatre concert included tive Portuguese tolk songs, and selec- tions trom Beethoven and Chopin. Warning his audience ot the dangers ot stereotyping any group, he related his misadventures traveling through the South disguised as a Negro. I achieved instant degradation simply by changing the color ot my skin, he said, ln cities where I had been welcomed and honored, I could no longer buy a meal or use a rest room and the only thing that l had changed about me was the color ot my skin. The generation gap is even more frightening than the racial gap, said Dr. Zelma George, noted sociologist and musician. She urged students ot all ages and races to concentrate on being part ot the solution instead ot being part ot the problem. fPauI Winter Contemporary Consort renders special treatment to Jazz, Symphonic Orchestration, and Folk Music.
