New Students Find Livelq Welcome The Carillon bells tolled a welcome to some 8,000 South and Northeast Campus students during the tirst school week. The tall semester tale ot two campuses be- gan with a getting-to-know-you period called Howdy Weel. President and Mrs, Joe Pushrng hosted a Sunday atter- noon reception honoring TCJC students on September 22 in the Irving room ot the SUB. Petreshments were served by Hospitality Committee members trom both campuses. APO and Kappa repre- sentatrves conducted tours of the South Campus so that new students could rnspect school facilities and learn their way around the campus before classes began During the reception the Activities Cornmrttee and various campus clubs lficked oft the three-clay country carnrval. The SUB was transformed unto a western town and western backgrounds were provided for clubs to corral new members, Each club decorated a booth and displays tor promotlon ot their organizations. ln Tune With the Times, the Forums Series, was begun by the Levee Srngers, The singers from Dallas proved to be a highlight of the howdy activitres, They sang their own rendrtlons ot familiar ballads and pop- ular music The tour male vocalists have appeared on national television as well as college campuses, x ', av x xv , fr, . , T.-1 . - Q : 15 , Q V .
