The all-girl group is the largest of the eight activity groups, Members served as ushers, planned receptions, and poured punch as they fulfilled their role cis official hostesses of the campus. When not playing the hostesses-with-the-mostest role, the Hospitality Committee kept active, Members participated in a Vogue Wig Shop wig show, and heard Ellen Cabluck, bridal consultant for Striplings De- partment Store, discuss Plan Your Wedding. The com- mittee also helped plan Women's and Men's Week. A highlight of the fall was Fashion Fair co-spon- sored by the Hospitality Committee and Neiman Marcus. Fashion Fair was a four-week charm and modeling course taught by specialists from Neiman Marcus, At the end of the course fashion consultants from Neiman Marcus selected 12 girls as Mamselles as official models to represent the school in various fashion shows. During the spring, eight mamselles from TCJC attended the Texas Fashion Convention in Dallas, mak- ing the fashion committee a permanent and active sub- committee for hospitality, Ellen Cabluck, bridal consultant for Stripling's Department Store com ments on wedding attire. Forum Search Reaches to Prison 131, 1 'St f Bill Sands, founder of the National Seventh Step Foundation, talks to students about prison reforms and crime prevention. A 4.5 ln Tune With the Times heralded the T968-69 Forum Series. The Forums Committee, chaired by Bar- bara Allen, brought informative programs of national, local, and school issues before the college community. This was done by bringing in outstanding national spealfers as vvell as planning informative programs headed by students and faculty. Noted speakers on the Forum regular series included author John Howard Griffin, author and sociologist Jean Pierre l-iallet, attorney Melvin Belli, author Louis Lomax, state Senator Barbara Jordan, author and critic Penn Jones, and Pulitzer Prize winning author John Carroll. The Forums Committee combined talents with the Hospitality Committee to present Womens Week and Men's Weelf, Molly Grubb, Miss Texas l968, Bobbie Wy- gant, television star of WBAP-TV, and Dr. Joyce Brothers, noted psychologist and journalist appeared during Womens Week. Men's Week brought author Bill Sands, ci former convict. The Forums also provided students with a chance to sound off in several i'Free-Speech Forums held during activity period on the patio, Students expressed their opinions on school and national issues. , i: . The show was lCC's chief claim to headlines during its tirst year as it quietly went about its business of promoting club unity and inter-club friendship. An outgrowth of an organizational seminar held before school began in September, the council consists ot one representative from each official organization on campus It was chciirecl by David Tcirrcint, SGA tirst vice-president.
