Group Plans Films Planning days and evenings ot tun through tilms and games was the prime time consuming activity ot the Films and Games Committee, it ln the area ot games, the committee sponsored a - and Games A sounds like an Academy Awards line-up. The committee, in associating with the Division ot Fine Arts, presented seven outstanding evenings of en- tertainment tor campus students, The committee spon- sored fin order of their appearance on campusl classical pianist Fernando laires, a lecture by Dr, Zelma George on Negro Music - lts Effect on American Culture, the musical Carnival played by Denner's Third Eye Theatre, a national touring company pertorming Edgar Lee Mas- ter's Spoon River Anthology, classical guitarist Jorge Motel, the University at Texas Experimental Jazz Ensem- ble, ancl the Paul Winter Contemporary Consort. Thus the Fine Arts Committee brought the protes- sional world ot tine arts to TCJC Also realizing the talent ot surrounding schools, the committee entertained musi- cal groups trom Texas Christian University, University ot Texas at Arlington, and the University ot Texas at Austin to add depth to its program. Beverly lhnteldt served as student coordinator and Dr. James Luck, chairman of the Division ot Fine Arts chaired the committee, FINE ARTS COMMITTEE Betty Miller, Frank Whitehead, Beverly lhn- teldt.

Commission Keeps Polls Honest l L APO MEMBERS help students cast their ballots in one of the many school elections. As Dollcis and the IBM men found out in the l968 Presidenticil Election, counting ballots is done best by humons At TCJC, the iob was embodied in the all humcin Election Commission, Operating under the constitutionol by-laws ot the SGA, the Election Commission was entrusted with the duties ot overseeing bcillot boxes at elections, Counting votes, ond verifying thot the elections were conducted tciiily cincl honestly. Seven students composed the committee, including ci choirmcin oppointed by SGA. The Election Commission hacl two chairmen during the 1968-69 school year. Fall chciirmcin vvcis Norman Bcirnes and spring chairman, Kcithy Klint. Other commission members included Bill Allen, Carol Mclielvey, Greg Plapp, Terry Wilemon, and Regina! Young, The EleCtiOn Commission supervised such elections os SGA officers ond senotors, Mr, and Miss TCJC and class tcivorites and beauties, APO members Worked with the commission in checking student ID's and seeing that someone vvos cilvvays present at the ballot boxes.

Forum Search Reaches to Prison 131, 1 'St f Bill Sands, founder of the National Seventh Step Foundation, talks to students about prison reforms and crime prevention. QFORUMS CCMMITTEE lTop fowl Carolyn Doka, Mandi Raymer, Dreta Daniels, Joe Critter, Mary Carlis, Cindy Clark, Peggy Carlis. lBottom rowl Garland Hutson, forum speaker Jean Pierre Hallet, Barbara Allen, Sponsor Larry Story. A 4.5 ln Tune With the Times heralded the T968-69 Forum Series. The Forums Committee, chaired by Bar- bara Allen, brought informative programs of national, local, and school issues before the college community. This was done by bringing in outstanding national spealfers as vvell as planning informative programs headed by students and faculty. Noted speakers on the Forum regular series included author John Howard Griffin, author and sociologist Jean Pierre l-iallet, attorney Melvin Belli, author Louis Lomax, state Senator Barbara Jordan, author and critic Penn Jones, and Pulitzer Prize winning author John Carroll. The Forums Committee combined talents with the Hospitality Committee to present Womens Week and Men's Weelf, Molly Grubb, Miss Texas l968, Bobbie Wy- gant, television star of WBAP-TV, and Dr. Joyce Brothers, noted psychologist and journalist appeared during Womens Week. Men's Week brought author Bill Sands, ci former convict. The Forums also provided students with a chance to sound off in several i'Free-Speech Forums held during activity period on the patio, Students expressed their opinions on school and national issues. , i: .
