N fa THE TARKIANA, 1938 MIXED CHORUS The Mixed Chorus, composed of fifty members has successfully completed its second year of work under the direction of Professor Gavin L. Doughty. The aim of the club and its director has been to. present the bes't type of choral music with the best possible musicianship. The group has been largely concerned with works of a religious nature, the type best adapted to mixed chorus. The first public appearance. this year was made when the chorus sang a number on the evening of the Homecoming celebration, October 30. On December 12, the Mixed Chorus gave the fifth annual Christmas Vesper service at the Federated Presbyterian Church to an audience of six hundred. Several short trips were made during the spring to high schools, churches and other colleges. The chorus sang at the Easter Sunrise Service at Clarinda, Iowa, April 17. Each Monday evening, the members met in the banquet hall Where Professor Gavin Ll. Doughty gave freely of his time and talent for instruction in music to any student Who, W-as interested, The chapel 'program presented by the Tarkio Little Symphony was well re- ceived by the students. The group is certainly to be congratulated on their accom- plishment during the length of time they had Worked. The membership included: W pViolinsg H. O. It has been t'he custom for the quartet to travel ex- ' ' ' d its itinerary all those towns teI1SiV0ly during the summer vacation and to inclu e on th college or the United Presbyterian which have any possible connection with e Church. During the coming summer months it is anticipated that the quartet will appear ' tion temporarily in favor thY011gh0ut Iowa and Nebraska after having deserted this sec of the Pacific Coast States during last June, July, and August.
