THE TARKIANA, 1938 i l w 1 Broerman, Porter, Carey, Hanrath, Pemberton, Mr. Held, Caldwell. DEBATE One of the largest squads in the past several seasons took advantage of the opportunities that debate- offers to the students of the College and enjoyed a very profitable season under the direction of Professor Held. Particularly gratifying to the squad has been the revival of interest in debate by the Women of the College and the recognition given by Pi Kappa Delta fthe largest forensic fraternity in the U. SJ for the Work accomplished by the squad. The season included participation in the Maryville College Tournament, the State Tournament at Columbia, and a pleasant road trip through Kansas and Mis- souri with stops on the campus' of Kansas U., William Jewell College, and Park Col- lege. The season Was climaxed by an invitation and subsequent attendance to the National Convention of Pi Kappa Delta held in Topeka, Kansas. The squad under the leadership of Professor Held has made definite progress in gaining recognition by Pi Kappa Delta and with a veteran squad fonly the captain of the squad will be lost by graduationj together With new members back next year Tarkio should do much to further its cause for a chapter in Pi Kappa Delta. page seventy-eight ,fs qxbof. ikhwlf i xilfffgfu 1-, wine! h' ,fra for ilfm Tue CUPY7 zsilfibfg ma: durin Tue mem!-f Violin Bartz.
