FIRST ROW-Mr. Kyle, Peters, McPherson, Padget, Lewis, Waits, Mitchell, Nuckols. BASKETBALL-1938 . Led by Lee Padget, the handsome Junior captain, Tarkio treaded its ,Way through a good season on the hardwood courts and finished third in the M. C. A. U. The Owls took care of eight of their opponents, being defeated sevenltimes, but never by a wide margin except to the All-American Phillip's team who played the boys in an early season assignment. g Waits led the Tarks' scoring by tallying 56 field goals and 25 free tosses for a total of 137 points, over one-fourth of the team's total of 464 points. Lewis finished second in the scoring with a total of 104 points, While our captain-elect Peters was third with 69 points. With such a fine season completed, the student body looks forward to still better things from the basketball squad next year. From the team of the '37-'38 season, MI'- Kyle looses only Gene Branson, a senior, who will be long-remembered for his fight- ing' Spirit and wholehearted co-operation. Those who won letters t'his year will be available Y19Xt Year.
