I. A. A. conference in line play only to be defeated by Paeses, and a late field goal. The defensive play of the game indicated a stone wall of a forward line. In a migration day game, played at Red Ooak, the Tarkio Owls squared accounts for the defeat of the year before by defeating the Red-men 13 to 0. Features of the game were the deadly blocking of Captain Mertz, the 1-un- ning of Schoonover, and the effective line play of Arm- strong, and Everly. Playing before a Chillicothe homecoming crowd of 8000, the Owls won again 6 to 0. Schoonover drove over from the one foot line after a sustained drive made possible by an intercepted pass by Thompson. The Owls scored early, and in the second stanza came near to a second marker, but a missed placement gave the ball to the Ducks. Fay, who was injured early in the game, was not available to the team for some time. A rival of forty years, Jewell offered too strong a de- fensive game for the Owls before a large homecoming crowd. The teams lacked offensive power, and the game ended in a scoreless tie. Both teams were in position to score, but neither had that final spark. Schoonover was all over the field. Remember that 40 yard sprint of Porter's after an intercepted pass? In the Central game Tarkio, time and time again, marched forty or sixty yards up-field but went over for only one touchdown. Three more points, were picked up by a placement kick by Armstrong in the first period, Schoon- over sparkpluged the Owls as usual, with Armstrong play- lng' a very substantial game. By this victory, Tarkio took a temporary lead in conference rating. Headed by Schoonover and Hummell, running wild around end and passing for five markers, the Owls produced 0116 Of. the best performances seen on the home f1eld for some time. The team took a while to get under way Wllilfl the game one of the best of the season from the speC1321'COT S standpoint.
