Its membership isi comprised oil persons who are interested enough to meet with the club every other week to discuss international problems. H Although the club is the baby among the clubs it is a strong husky one who will soon be ranked along with the older organizations. Much of 'this growth is the result of the problems which they are studying. The international problems of this world are before us more clearly than ever, and this club is attempting to aid in the studies of these problems. Their aim is to promote a friendlier feeling among the countries of this World. To accomplish this Worthwhile aim they discuss international problems in their World prespective with our personal bases eliminated. Mrs. Long has been a very capable leader of this very worthwhile group. The membership of the club is composed of the following: Harry Haynes, Harry Broer- man, Lyle Latimer, Alton Hanrath, William Bennett, Mrs. Long, Sponsor. page fifty-five

Its activ- ities are varied and interesting, and during this year 1937-1938 .Scr1bblers Club has ' fprovidence permittingj met twice each month on Tuesday evenings. The purpose of the organization is to foster and promote the students' interest in creative writing. The meetings are informal, that is, there are no compulsory rules. concerning' manuscripts, and the contributions to the meetings are voluntary. The members gather in Dr. Jam1eson's office and read the manuscripts they have written. It iS .3 policy to give each person the right to criticize and to discuss the manuscripts. It 13 generally accepted that the members are not offended by any criticism that may be offered. The members feel that criticism is helpful to them, because it encourages them to be attentive to any faults they may have in their own writing. They find, too, that the criticism is not only beneficial, but also interesting. Exceptionally good work which has been submitted to Scribblers Club may be printed in the Torch. Manuscripts which have appeared in the Torch include an GSSHY The Little Big Shot by Mary Louise Law and a short story, Eye for an Eye, by Virginia Elder. Occasionally the members of the club bring their W0Tk before the students in chapel programs. The interest of the members of the club extends to work of students in other Colleges- The membem P-'11'tiCularly enjoyed the two joint meetings with the Writers group of Maryville State Teachers' College. page fifty-four .. . 1, -A P - ., . -1-r - ,E ' fi' l.:iL65.3'.it e2- I W e ' nr. They appeared at the football and basketball games this year, ensemble and gave a good performance every time with many unique acrobatic stunts. The purple and white of the squad's uniforms add a colorful and most app1'0-. priate note to any athletic contest or occasion. Certainly the sight of the Tarkiowls marching down the football field, bearing the Tarkio banner, was one to remember and one to inspire a real school spirit.
