1938, THE TARKIANA miata CLASS or 'as The class of '38 does not claim the distinction of being the largest class to be graduated from Tarkio College. It does not claim to be the most distinguished class. We, the members of the class of '38 do claim to be the most all-round class ever to be graduated f1'0H1 Ta1'ki0 C01lege. In 1934 we descended on the school in a cloud of dust fthat was the year of the drouth, remember?J and glory, but in rather few 'num- bers. As the year drew to a close, we advised you in the Tarkiana to Watch our smoke! In 1935-36 we were considerably whittled down in membership, but still going strong, even if the then puny Freshman class, and now the punier Junior class did win that year's Scrap Day. There is one distinc- tion the class of '38 can boast. We never won a Scrap Day. In 1936-37 only the strong survived, and our greatvworth became apparent. As 1937-38 draws to a close we pause to take inventory of our- selves and find among our number the captain of a M. C. A. U. cham- pionship football team, an out-standing debater, one of the best charac- ter actors the college has ever seen, an artist and traveller of whom WG Shall heal' great things in the future a cou le of musicians and We . . , , ' 9 ' hflpe as thls 1S 7091119 WFIVCGHD the captain of another conference cham- pion track team. .
