Tantasqua Scholars The staff of the Tantasquan takes this opportunity to at congratulate Michael Dziura and Karen Krans the highest ranking male and female students in the class of 1984. We do this not only to honor these two disciplined and talented people, but to also focus on the virtues of scholarship and study that they practice. Tantasqua offers students a wide range of activities for growth and social development, and each pursuit has its own merits. But because we all realize that the prima- ry purpose for our presence here is to broaden and deepen our understanding of the world, and because we affirm that it is only through academic excellence that a com- plete education can emerge, we ask that Karen Krans and Michael Dziura be praised for their own efforts and as symbols for all Tantasqua students who are engaged in the serious pursuit of knowledge, information, and wis- dom. I need only to close my eyes to remember . . . It would be too easy to linger in my past. My rose-colored glasses are just beyond reach, fading somewhere in youthful laughter. An-ever present smile still brightens my face, yet sometimes I hurt so badly I want to cry... and nobody knows. I often wonder which highway of life I will travel, whose warm hands and undying love will make me feel secure, which of my close friends will keep in touch after our carefree High school days are over. So very young, yet I feel so old. “Maturity” teases me — it lets me feel as if I’m in total control, then allows my rare childish side to make a fool of me. I’m unsure about life, love, values, people, myself. Maybe when I’m nineteen, twenty-nine, or one hundred and nine, someone will enlighten me. Until then, I am content to search, change, and remember. — Anne Hill, 18 CLASS WILL To the JV Varsity Basketball Teams: Chocolate Chip Cookies Love, MO I leave my ‘“‘seal” laugh ringing in the halls, the library, the ... Despite poor fan support, the Cross Coun- try team still managed to wrap up the ’83 season with a 10-4 record. Running in temperatures ranging from the near 100° mark to the freezing point, runners like Steve Stalker, Paul Tremblay, and Mike Holley led the team to victory against ev- ery team in the league, except Auburn, who won the Border-Conference title. The Warriors, although not first, positioned themselves comfortably in second place. Cliff Gawron and Mark Kocher were involved in a rivalry for fourth place on the team, but as it would happen, Cliff’s talent and disciplined prowness prevailed every time. Robin Bouthiller, hindered in the 82’ season by a late start due to back injuries, came on strong this year. Although he placed seldom, he aided the team through a consistent effort. Tantasqua owes a great deal of credit to Dan Cutler and Mike Dziura who kept the teams Border-Conference hopes alive during the home meet vs. Bartlet. Due to unfortunate circumstances Mike Holley and Paul Tremblay were unable to run. Mike D. showed determination in effort and attitude as did Dan C. who improved over last years season a 100%. Strong effort and spirit was exhibited by Layne Wonderlear and John Fagerquist who couldn’t run in the 82’ season due to his near tragic bike accident. Two runners to look for in the 84’ season are John Philips and Mark Difabio, both freshman. Tantasqua will have a strong team next year. All eyes, especially those of Auburn, will be focused on the Warrior runners for them there is no finish line. 92 VARSITY FOOTBALL (1-9) BOTTOM ROW (L-R) — Ed Gaumond, Jeff Ni- cholas, Dana Demetrius, Keith Balderelli, Mark Wilson, Paul Griggs’, Scott Farland , Eugene Gaumond’ , John Aloia , Chris Either, Paul John- son, Jeff Rudsinski, Rudy Hellyar 2nd ROW — Steve Learned, Brian Wood, Chris St., Jean, John Degnan, Peter Hayes, Chris Johnson, Paul Blackburn, Barry Knight, Michael Partlow, Mi- chael Sosik, Brian Griggs 3rd ROW — Tom DeCelle, Rich Bonney, Todd Farland, Mike Lilla, Paul Hayes, Todd Cantara, Buddy Pratt, Jamie Gerrish, Bill Dorney, Matt Congdon, Ter- ry Parker 4th ROW — coaches Neil Martin, Mr. Farland, Mr. Warren, Rocky Thompson MISS- — ING: Bill Ruggeri, Randy Lafleche, Brian Sulli- van, Peter VanAmburgh, Bill Johnson and Don Wheeler “captain J.V.
