Frere So 36 In Loving Memory of ... Billy Wyman July, 1956 — March, 1973 Gather them up in your arms, dear Father, And bless them as they come to You, These boys who have left the precious days of their youth, The loving playtime of their friends, And their families never forgetting. Help us to keep safe in our hearts, The very memory of these two, And how they laughed and worked and played. Grant that, from this moment, we shall be: A little more gentle in our friendships, A little more kind to our brother, And alittle more aware of all about us: The joys, and the sorrows, And the mystery, — of life. E.M. Mark Smith June, 1956 — September, 1972 It is the wish of the Senior Class that this book be dedicated to the memory of their classmates Billy Wyman and Mark Smith. SW a _ SENIORS... We, as a Student Council have become a very important part of the whole in Tantasqua. We don’t work alone, we work together with our students for we are only students ourselves with a title put on us. This title stands for leadership, understanding, responsibility, and work. We must move out into our students, our teachers and our community. We are their representatives, and that action we must take — to give our services and to benefit all. We are a joint organization and we must work hand and hand to make this school as great as it is. It is the Student Council that provides the organization and foundation of our school. It is this group of students that provides the democracy needed for such a regional school. We work to build up the spirit and unity in our “society’’. We have become strong but not without help and guidance. We have strived for success and have gained it through hardships and encouragement. We have learned to cope with change by learning its meaning and at the same time not abusing tradition. As a Student Council we want to reach out to all and if we have sat- isfied only a few of them we are satisfied. This year we have one goal — to join our school as a whole in mind and spirit. Firstly, it was felt that a program was needed that would allow students the freedom to investigate areas of in- terest that were not offered in the schools curriculum. Secondly, it was felt that students in the program would be assuming the full responsibility of learning. ne ial Both Programs have been brought together under the title of Career Development. MS 7 158 ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS Robert Bombard Edward Bzdula DEDICATION It is with sincere regret and humblest apology that we, The Staff of the 1974 TANTASQUAN, acknowledge the unforgivable fact that we omitted, among other things, the formal pictures of our two most respected and revered assistant principals from that yearbook. Furthermore it is fervently hoped that this feeble attempt at redemption will be recognized for what it is, a sincere and honest token of a careless and honest mistake. As a more tangible symbol of our contriteness we wish to dedicate this supplement to those aforementioned gentlemen, Mr. Robert Bombard and Mr. Edward Bzdula. Not-withstanding the fact that this was the teachers first attempt at a musical it was most enthusiastically received. There were many factors which contributed to this immense success, not the least important of which, was the outstanding interpreta- tion of the lead role of Tevye by Mr. Bombard. Other contributing factors were the brilliant stage direction of Mr. Russell and the exciting musical direc- tion of Mr. David Robertson. Still other significant contributions were the sen- sitive performances of other people including many students and just plain friends of the school. The fall schedule included a Varsity Football team whose drive, determination and loyalty exemplified all victo- ries and made up for any losses. The Junior Varsity Football team shows potential for being one of the better teams this school has seen. Cross Country runners tried out a new coach and liked it as this years record was quite commendable. The Soccer players, also under new leadership, found their prowess led them to a very successful season. The Boy’s Basketball team continues to grow stronger and stronger. Other schools were paying more attention to the game of this years varsity players than in the past. The Junior Varsity found themselves with a pleasing record at the end of their season. Up and coming are the Freshmen and Junior High teams. The Junior High team was certainly rewarded for their hustle and continuous drive by winning the Annual Knights of Columbus Jr. High Basketball Tournament. The Girl's Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball teams found themselves equipped with many fine palyers and an all out effort brought them deserving victories. Gymnastics at Tantas- qua were super this year. The boys came by many victories and our girls were not only undefeated but placed first at Western Mass. competition. Spring sports bloom again for Tantasqua as the Baseball, Softball and Track teams give opposing schools on their schedules something to worry about. The Tennis team has the potential to again capture the Border Con- ference. They are making it a regular thing. All through the year the Cheerleaders have been working hard to give all teams as much support as possible. Their three season year ends with the Annual David Prouty Cheerleading Tournament.
