Until          that          point          Brandon          had          retired          20          consecutive          batters. Under          the          shadows          of          Holy          Cross          College,          Tantasqua         defeated          Auburn          High          School          in          a          special          playoff          for          the          crown          by          a          5-4          margin.         Youth          was          the          name          of          the          game          as          Bill          Koslowski          and          John          Hopkins,          a          pair          of         eighth          graders,          stroked          seventeen          match          wins          between          them.          Al          Sherman,          Bill         Fairchild,          Ron          Johnson,          John          Ebersold,          Ed          Heske,          and          Cris          Roy          nailed          down          many         impressive          wins          between          them.         The          team          finished          the          season          with          an          overall          record          of          6-6          which          includes          a          4-1         conference          mark.         This          brings          the          overall          three-year          record          to          18-14-1. The          football          season          began          this          year          with          a          lot          of          question          marks.          With          the          loss         of          several          outstanding          players          from          last          year’s          team,          especially          in          the          backfield,         the          coaching          staff          began          to          rebuild.         With          a          nucleus          of          veterans,          Captain          Paul          Woodward,          Quarterback          Steve         Gallerani          and          Ends          Jackson          and          Ramsey,          the          team          reported          to          practice          at          the         beginning          of          September.         The          upcoming          schedule          was          certainly          a          challenging          one          and          represented          the         typical          caliber          of          football          Tantasqua          has          become          accustomed          to          playing.          Beginning         September          19th          with          Class          B          Champions          Bartlett          High          School          and          going          on          to         Class          A          powers          Athol,          Southbridge,          and          Thanksgiving          rival          Wachusett,          the          team         had          their          work          cut          out          for          them.         Promising          underclassmen          were          being          given          a          long,          hard          look          and          equal         opportunity          by          Coach          Farland          in          this          rebuilding          year.          During          the          preseason         scrimmages          with          neighboring          schools,          the          coaches          had          decided          on          their          starting         line-up          and          readied          themselves          for          Bartlett:          juniors          Andy          Lamontagne,          John          Jolin         and          Dave          Beaudry,          Steve          Morin,          and          newcomer          Mike          Clark.          Two          new          faces         included          Jim          Martin          and          Kevin          Stewart,          along          with          Jim          Coderre          and          Rich         Kenderian.         The          individual          performances          of          seniors          Woodward,          Gallerani,          Jackson          and         Ramsey          were          inspiring          to          their          younger          teammates          and          their          deeds          too          numerous         to          recount.         With          little          depth          on          the          team          and          little          help          from          lady          luck          the          team          faced         bitter          frustration          almost          weekly.          Some          teams          might          have          given          up,          some         individuals          might          have          found          it          easy          to          quit,          but          the          Thanksgiving          Day         performance          showed          a          team          giving          their          all          till          the          last          gun. Tourney.          Chicopee          eventually          became          the          Western          Mass,          State          and          New         England          Champion.         The          Warriors          were          led,          this          year,          by          captains          Bob          Rowe          and          Steve          Jones          and         they          assured          Coach          Emrich          with          four          games          to          go          they          would          win          them          all,          and         they          did;          thus          giving          us          our          best          overall          record          in          the          3          year          history          of          our          varsity         soccer          team.          Craig          Pease          led          our          scorers          with          8          goals          and          was          followed          closely          by         Tim          May          with          6          and          Duane          Adams          with          5.          Fritz          Bergman          and          Jim          Clancy         punched          through          our          remaining          goals.          Doug          Warner,          Ken          Cote,          John          Ebersold,         David          Hicks,          Bob          and          Henri          Baillargeon,          Dennis          Keough          and          Bill          Fairchild          were         our          defensive          workhorses. Our          goal          is          to          pro-         mote          a          unique          relationship          between          the          students,          faculty,          and          administration.          Each         Council          member          must          recognize          his          duty          towards          his          school          and          the          community.         Through          the          efforts          of          the          Student          Council          many          changes          take          place          in          the          tra-         dition          of          the          school.          This          year,          through          the          Council,          a          student          lounge          was          formed.         Money          was          donated          to          many          deserving          organizations.          This          year          more          pep          rallies         were          held          than          in          previous          years.          School          spirit          was          aroused          after          the          many          years         in          which          it          had          remained          dormant.          Students          attended          State                    National          Conven-         tions,          to          learn          techniques          for          solving          problems          within          the          school.         I          feel          it          has          been          a          great          honor          to          have          been          elected          President          of          the          Council.         Through          my          efforts          I          hope          that          the          Council          has          become          a          better          organization          and         that          each          year          it          continues          to          grow          to          be          a          stronger          and          more          powerful          and         unified          one.         I          would          personally          like          to          thank          the          many          students          who          have          given          me          such          a         marvelous          and          memorable          opportunity          and          also          to          thank          all          the          S.C.          members         and          students          from          outside          the          Council          who          worked          so          diligently          for          their          school.         They          all          deserve          great          merit.
