Engines, refrigeration, steam heating, and air conditioning are the responsibility of the Machin- ery Repairmen and Enginemen of A Division. The engines of the soundboats, LCVP's and motor-- boats, as well as the ship's emergency diesel engines are maintained by these men. Extended opera- tions at sea necessitate the use of the machine shop for the repair and, at times, the ingenious manufacture of parts essential to the running of the ship.
