CLASS HISTORY On a bright fall day in September, a jolly group of twenty-two Freshmen started at Tangier for a battle with education. After getting down to business, we succeeded in electing our sponsor, Mrs. Iona Nale, and the following class officers: Russell Newnum, President, Richard Bond, Vice-President, Harold Grubbs, Sec. -Treas. g and Joe Riley, Reporter. Having this completed, we spent one happy year together helping one another over every ob- stacle that confronted us. Richard Bunnell joined us in December and Bob Stevens came in March. When May arrived, we gave one huge lunge and landed in various directions whereby our vacations were sp- ent to the best advantage. The next year found us once more assembled in the Sophomore intelligence booth. Upon entering school we found that Janet Cadman, Bill Chard, and Roger Propst had left us to further their education elsewhere and Richard Bond left school entirely. This year under the sponsorship of Mr. Grimes, our President was Harold Gr- ubbs, Vice-President, Pete Newnumg Sec. -Treas. , Richard Bunnellg and Reporter, Joe Riley. Richard Bunnell left our school in January, to enter school in Indianapolis. As we left for destinations unknown, the following spring, we fully realized this year was as great a success as before. Coming back as Juniors, we have waded farther into our tasks before us. Janene Pruitt left our group, but Doyne McMahan joined us. This year our sponsor is again Mr. Grimes and we elected class officers as follows- President, Nancy Norton, Vice-President, Pete Newnumg Sec. , Guyann Gleason, Treas. , Harold Grubbs, and Reporter, Norma Hornbeck. With the participation of each individual and the cooperative action of the rest of the school, the Junior Class is preparing itself for future hardships that are sure to follow. We are hoping for success which we are sure to attain if we will never stop trying. 35
