President’s Message THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON TO THE 1973 HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES: On graduation day this spring, you harvest the fruits of twelve years of hard work and you savor the taste of achievement. It is a time for pride. As your fami- lies, schools, and communities let you know how proud they are of what you have done, | want to say on behalf of all Americans that your country is proud too. But it is also a time to look forward. Your education will continue in the years ahead -- whether on a campus, at a job, in the home, or in uniform. | encourage you to use your opportunities to the full, living to help others and to better yourselves and wringing every drop of learning out of life's adventure. Adventure it will be, and a greater one than any young men and women before you have ever enjoyed. The world in 1973 is stirring with renewal and eager for what you have to share. For the first time in your lifetime, the world is entering an age of peace, and the Nation feels the promise of a new era of progress. America's 200th birthday is approaching, and the third century that begins then will belong to you. It will be exciting to see what you will make of it -- and of yourselves.
