O The Faculty, Their Interests and Activities O In this section we want to include. besides the activities of the faculty. some facts and figures about the school. This year Tamaqua Senior High School had a population of 554. The girls outnumbered the boys by a slight margin. 284 to 270. The number of resident or town pupils was 339 while the out of town pupils numbered 2131. There were sixteen daily subject teachers and three special instructors. There were only two substitute teachers this year. Mrs. Clarence Hess. who frequently taught her son, a -junior. and Mrs. Richard jones. whose husband is on the faculty. Our medical and dental staffs include Dr. Gordon VVeayer as school doctor. Mrs, Anna T. Griffiths as school nurse, Dr. N. Forrest as dentist. and Miss Eva Scarloss as dental hygienist. The attendance ofiicer was Mr. Ed- win Berk. Those who frequent the library know quite well our librarian and secretary, Mrs. Madden. and her pleasant manner. Her two able Senior assistants were Lois Klingaman and Nancy Nladden. Pauline Holmberg and .Ioann Mantz were the junior helpers, The school library contained fifteen hundred books. fifteen magazines. countless college cata- logs. and two newspapers. This year the old projector was replaced by a new oneva gift from the Senior class. In addition to the new projector. Tamaqua High is equipped with a public address system. a slide projector. and an opaque projector. and a new record player. In addition to these facts. there are some items about the faculty worthy of mention. Mr. Hartwig is the proud father of twin daughters. Miss Wall added a new car to her possessions. Miss Bahrt gave many people an interesting evening when she secured the world's cham- pion typist for a Commercial Club meeting. Mr. Purnell coached a very good basketball team. Miss Rupert became Mrs. Madden in February. Miss Mohrbach became Mrs. Lowe. The rest of this section contains other infor- mation about the faculty.
