The Faculty. Their Subjects and -'fCf1.Ul'fI'C'.S' This year the school had a total population of 549. The resident pupils numbered 341. and the pupils from the districts 208. Unfortunately the girls outnumbered the boys 309 to 2.5. There were sixteen regular teachers. three special in- structors, and a secretary. There are twenty-one pictures on the following pages because we have included the secretary who was here until No- vember and the one who took her place. Of these twenty-one persons in the faculty section, seventeen graduated from the Tamaqua schools. During the year five substitutes taught in the absence of the regular teachers. They were Mrs. Harry Fetterman, Mrs. .lohn Sehmitthenner, the Rev. W. E. Myers, Mrs. Clarence Hess, and Mrs. Mary Samasek. The medical and dental staff included Dr. Gordon Weaver, school doctor, Mrs. Anna Grif- fiths, substituting as school nurse for Miss Pearl Steigcrwalt. who was called back into the Navy: Dr. J. N. Forrest. school dentist: and Miss Eva Scarloss. dental hygienist. Mr. Edwin J. Berk was the attendance officer. Fight To the visual aids which we inheritedfa six- teen millimeter projector. a slide projector. and a victrola-was added this year an opaque pro- jector, which was a gift of the 1951 ,lunior Serv- ice Club. The school library contains fifteen hundred books, fifteen magazines, and two newspapers. The facts and figures mentioned are the vital statistics of the school. Now for some interest- ing facts about the faculty. Miss Wall received her Masteris Degree this year. Miss Bahrt went to California last summer. Mr. Baer. besides being a teacher, is also a farmer, a carpenter, and a plumber. Mr. Duncavage is a Major in the Active Marines. Mr. Purnell coached Knee- Hi baseball. Mr. Jones and Mr. Duncavage were married recently. Miss Krause is studying for her Masters Degree at Penn State. Miss Wall heard President Truman speak at a press con- ference in New York.
